I volunteer at the Maryland SPCA. I'm a dog deputy level 2 and also exam room help. As a dog deputy, I walk dogs, spend time with them, and even teach them tricks! Part of my training to become both a level 1 and level 2 was learning dog behavior, with the level 2 training being more intensive on warning signs rather than what a wagging tail means, for example. The training also taught me behaviors that are indicative of illness and behavioral issues. I'm also certified in "dog's day out" which allows me to take specific shelter dogs off of the SPCA campus for the day. I also have always had dogs growing up, and I have one now. I've also dog sat for family friends!
