Pet care experience
I was born and raised in Manhattan but moved to Ulster County in August 2015 to help my mother tend to and maintain her very old, beautiful house perched on the Hudson River. I am a college graduate and have worked in finance and management even though I tri-majored in English, Classics and Writing. I kept wishing I could work with animals full-time, and finally I realized that I didn't have to keep wishing - I could make it a dream come true, and thus Carpe Canem came to be. ***Pricing Will Vary - Cost Is Based On Several Factors, So It May Be Less Or More Than What Is First Displayed - Cost Is Discussed Before Booking Confirmation*** ***Service Hours: 10 AM - 6 PM, 7 Days A Week***

Always 5 stars for Lindsay! No one better to take care of your pets :)
Lindsay provides the best of care. We highly recommend her.
I always feel confident leaving my kitty in Lindsay’s care! Lindsay goes above and beyond, sends the cutest pics, and makes my pet feel comfortable. Thank you!!!
It was great to have Lindsay watch our two cats while we were away for a few days. She was very responsive and sent a lot of pictures that indicated the cats enjoyed her company! Thank you!

I have an involved style with both you and your pet; I want to keep you at ease and connected to your pet when they are in my hands: the best care possible. Of course, some people prefer to shut off the world when they travel, so I don't enforce a constant-contact policy, but if it appeals to you, then you will be pleased with my methods. I do, however, require Meet & Greets for all new clients: I can not negotiate on this policy. It is absolutely imperative that I meet your pet before caring for them in your absence not only to ensure that your fur baby feels comfortable with me, but also because there are so many tiny nuances that we don't even notice about our mannerisms that I should observe so I know how best to handle your pet when you're away. I have had many clients respond to some of my questions with, "I never actually thought about that preferential choice for my dog," and they learned a new detail about their pet they hadn't considered before. I believe I am gifted with an aura or pheromonal chemistry that is attractive to animals and they are drawn to me. Even the most difficult or aggressive animals warm up to me almost immediately. Some trainers have said that my demeanor demonstrates Alpha and therefore animals receive me as a protector, though of course that is just a theory, but I felt it worth mentioning. I am firm, alert, and direct but equally affectionate and protective. Thus, I can state with full confidence that you will be very satisfied choosing me to care for your fur babies.
Information Lindsay O. would like to know about your pet
Allergies - if your fur baby has any allergies, please have a list ready for me of which to take note. Water - please let me know which water source to use in your house for your fur baby's dish: faucet, filter, bottled and so forth. Key - please have a key plan in place: either entrusting me with a copy or creating a designated secret place to keep it. WiFi - please have your wifi password ready for me: for the Rover Cards, WiFi ensures that I can upload photos and send the report promptly at the end of our sessions.
A typical day
- If you're a cat pawrent, you have probably noticed that Rover.com is very dog oriented, with cat care sprinkled around here and there. So if you're looking for the best choice for your cat(s), look no further because you found her! My skills with doggos are spectacular, but my cat skills are unparalleled. I have numerous (repeat) cat clients and I would love more! If your kitty is shy and timid, they'll snap right out of that after just 10 minutes with me. And I have no qualms with cleaning litter boxes, in fact I find the act to be meditative, like taking a rake to a Zen rock garden. Plain and simple: I love cats.

Caring for your pets is my full-time gig; this is not some seasonal job to make some cash between semesters, this is not a side job to add another source of income; this is my career and I take great pride in perfecting every aspect of it to be the best choice for you and your fur babies. I want to facilitate a familial bond and a lasting connection. Our pets become our children, and as "pawrents," we want to know our children are safe and comfortable and loved when we have to be away from them, be it a few hours at work or several days traveling. I treat every client as I would want my pets to be treated, and therefore I will always go the extra mile for you. I feel like I was born to serve and protect animals (so I am also a vegan).
