Experienced & Certified Dog Trainer
Pet care experience
I have over twenty years of experience caring for dogs and cats including many years as a Chief Operating Officer of three humane societies overseeing behavioral, medical, adoption, foster, and cruelty programs. I have fostered dozens of dogs and hundreds of cats/kittens over my career. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and have provided behavioral support for many shelter and rescue dogs and cats over the years. I have three dogs of my own (two 70lb dogs and one four pound Chihuahua). All of my pets are used to, and good with, new animals. If your dog is dog-social and you're looking for a professional who works from home, please send me a note. I have a separate bedroom where I can house a cat(s) as well. I am also very comfortable with medical needs and I regularly foster hospice animals who require monitoring and medications. I do not have children at the home or who regularly visit. I live in a beautiful part of Sutton with 4.5 unfenced acres and conveniently located ~15 minutes from Lake Sunapee and 25 minutes from Mount Sunapee, Pats Peak or Ragged Mountain if you're looking for someone to take your pup on adventures while you ski or hike. I have a large, second story deck where we spend most of our time during the warmer months. I am an avid hiker and trail runner and my dogs enjoy off-leash hiking on trails near my home 2-3x/week. I work full-time from my home and will be with your dog most of the time. For crate trained dogs, I have a large crate if they prefer their own space when I'm not home. I allow my pets on my furniture but can also give your dog alternatives if you'd rather they not be on furniture. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

The boys couldn’t have had a better experience! Lindsey took them for a walk in the woods and gave me photo updates throughout the day! When I went to pick them up, both were happy and playful but, both fell asleep before we were out of Lindsey’s driveway!
Lindsay was incredible with our puppy. She is a wonderful communicator, responding to texts, providing directions and sending pictures throughout Freddy's stay, taking him on multiple hikes with beautiful views! Lindsay offered to keep him for his first sleepover when a winter storm would have made our morning drop off difficult. Although I was nervous to leave Freddy overnight, Lindsay sent updates and pictures, both of which were incredibly reassuring. Freddy immediately warmed up to Lindsay upon their first meeting and I felt very comfortable knowing he was being treated like he was Lindsay's pup. I would absolutely leave Freddy in Lindsay's care again and cannot recommend her more highly.
What can I say about Lindsay ? Lindsay is the best pet sitter you could ever ask for. She is more reliable than our children who love their furry siblings. Our Bruno goes looking for her whenever her name is mentioned. I think Bruno would secretly like to be adopted by Lindsay. Our Bruno has had health issues over the years and she has taken great care of him wherever he is in his health journey. Bruno loves their adventures on the trails. Your pet will be well cared for, entertained and tuckered out at the end of the day.. We love Lindsay!!
Lindsay was communicative, timely, gave great directions, sent updates with photos, and our pup was well-cared for.

Information Lindsay H. would like to know about your pet
Any breed of dog is welcome here. Because I have three dogs, we would typically coordinate dog introductions before the first scheduled boarding to ensure everyone gets along. I have a Chihuahua so a dog who either has experience with small animals or can easily be introduced to them are the best matches for my home, however, if you aren't sure if your dog will be good with small animals, I have xpens and a large crate and am very experienced in introducing animals into my home. My pets are experienced with meeting new animals and generally laid back. I am experienced in giving a variety of medications and am comfortable monitoring senior animals or those with (non-contagious) medical issues. The best fit for my home are dogs who need more regular boarding vs. those who only need to be boarded once or twice per year, simply because your dog will be more comfortable with my pets the more frequently they are here. If your dog is small, I have the ability to comfortably keep her/him separate but larger dogs will benefit from more consistent visits.

There are multiple dog-friendly trails near my home that I take my dogs on 2-3x/week. Any boarded dog would join us on those hikes if they need that level of exercise. If your dog has a reliable recall and you are comfortable with her/him being off-leash, that is an option or I'm happy to hike with them on-leash. I am a petite, five foot tall woman so while I'm comfortable with dogs of all sizes, if your dog is very large and not yet easy to walk on a leash, we'll assess if this is the right fit. I am happy to work with your dog on basic obedience skills (I only use positive reinforcement training methods). I live a half mile from a lake with a three mile loop if your dog needs a paved surface or loves to swim in the summer. I live on a very quiet, dirt road so older animals or those who don't need as much exercise would receive shorter, regular walks. I work full-time from home so your dog will be with my dogs throughout the day as well.
