Expert Dog Whisperer

Pet care experience

I've spent the last 25 years rescuing, and fostering over 500 animals. Dogs are an integral part of every family, so I’m excited to offer services tailored to meet the unique needs of each dog and owner. It’s important to me that your dog feels happy & relaxed in my home. My goal is to provide an exceptionally pawsitive experience! I have worked with dogs that exhibit behaviors such as separation anxiety, jumping, mouthing, resource guarding, and fear-based aggression. Just like humans, each animal has their own unique personality and energy. I work with each dog and provide feedback to clients to promote their dog's positive energy and behaviors, and to calm unwanted behaviors using a reward based training approach. I have a wide variety of experience caring for puppies, kittens, pregnant, nursing, bottle fed, senior, and severely neglected dogs and cats. Most recently I fostered for Detroit Animal Care and Control, a city-run animal shelter in the heart of Detroit. At a minimum, every dog that I have fostered requires potty training, crate training, dog and human socialization skills. My passion is providing extensive care and rehabilitation for heartbreaking cases involving severe abuse and neglect. The strength and resiliency of these dogs is inspirational. To prepare my foster dogs for their forever homes, we take trips to the pet supply store, Home Depot, dog parks, Dairy Queen for ice cream, and Starbucks for a Puppaccino when they start to show signs that they are ready to explore the busy world. I would love to take your dog on an adventure.

Lindsay was great with our dog Teddy. He is a big dog who can be needy but she handled him well. We would definitely use her again( if she would take him) and recommend her to others!

Safety, trust & environment

A home environment provides a more relaxed atmosphere for your dog to thrive as compared to a boarding facility. This is because your beloved pet is forced to be on guard at a facility as they interact with a constant rotation of dozens of dogs and staff. This can cause your dog high amounts of undue stress. As a dog mom that has used Rover's services myself, it's important to me that both you and your dog have a great experience. My home offers over 3,000 square feet of space and a fenced in backyard for your dog to roam. During your dog's stay with me, I am physically committed to being with them 22-24 hours a day. I provide a daily pupdate of your dog’s adventures, a bully stick for positive reinforced chewing, social interaction with 1-4 furry friends, and a walk. My dog Mac is a great host and enjoys meeting new friends. He allows each dog the time and space required to adjust to their new environment.   *** For the safety of my household and yours, I require that your dog is on flea and tick preventative. If your fur baby will be staying for more than 5 nights, I require at least one doggy daycare booking prior to their stay. If he or she is staying for more than 9 nights, proof of your pet's rabies vaccine is required. If your dog has an accident or marks their territory inside my home, there is an additional $25 cleaning fee. I will use a pet diaper or weenie wrap on them while inside my home for the remainder of their stay. Owners are required to bring diaper(s) or weenie wrap(s) for all future bookings.***

Information Lindsay D. would like to know about your pet

How does your dog interact with other dogs, animals, and humans (both adults and children)? If you have a male dog, have he ever marked their territory inside a your home or others? Does he ever hump for other males for dominance? I welcome any additional information you're able to provide me with about your dog’s behaviors, preferences, and daily routine in your household.

A typical day

Throughout the day potty breaks can be provided every hour. The mornings are typically an opportunity for breakfast, supervised chewing on a bone, playing ball and some indoor/outdoor playtime with other furry friends. Most afternoons and evenings are a great chance to go on a walk or dog adventure, eat dinner, and get in lots of cuddles. I've never met a dog that doesn't like to go for a walk! I change the route on a regular basis as dogs love taking in new sights and smells. Depending on the time of year I like to take the dogs for a car ride to local parks and hiking trails, the pet store, the cider mill, Dairy Queen, and to Starbucks for a doggie treat, or for a swim at the lake.

Availability

I work from home full-time during the week, so I have flexibility to take your dog for walks, car rides, and to let them in and out for bathroom breaks throughout the day. During the week my house is typically quiet and calm throughout the day, and busy during the early morning and evening hours. My weekends provide more flexibility to go on dog adventures.
