I just love dogs; they make me happy and I return the favor. My husband and I have owned two rescue dogs, the first a golden retriever mix whose previous owner had tried to make her a mean watch dog--all he did was scare her to death. We gave her a safe, loving home for 14 happy years. Our second dog is a catahoula--we're her fourth known owners and she ran feral for approximately a year. She's missing some upper teeth that were kicked out, hopefully by something rather than someone. She was skin and bones and afraid of her own shadow before taking up residence with us almost five years ago. Now she's a calm and happy, if still somewhat shy, dog. If Emmylou, the golden mix, could have talked, or if Rosie, the catahoula hobo dog could talk, they'd provide great references for both my husband and myself. Reverse my opening sentence and make the subject plural: we just love dogs and love making them happy, and they're happy to return the favor. I like to do the same for your dog a few times a week.
