Toys, Treats and Training oh my!
Pet care experience
I started as the designated tail-wagging walker and cookie confidante of my local neighborhood pups as a child. Into my pre-teen years I volunteered in local shelters cleaning and walking dogs, as a teenager acquired my first job as a veterinary technician and worked as a tech on the gulf coast. I spent 3 years in West Texas training dogs, working as an emergency care veterinary technician and managing an enrichment program at pet resort for dogs and cats. I studied behavior and kennel management extensively. I moved back to the gulf coast and continued my learning to better understanding our canine companions through daily handling and veterinary interactions. My goals as a caretaker are to create the best scenarios for success for your dog, to make every experience one that both you and your pup can benefit from, to use every interaction as a learning opportunity to help create a well balanced relationship with your pup. I am versed in all types of training tools and handling equipment, and I ensure your pets safety upon all interactions. I have experience with reactive and nervous dogs, puppies, senior dogs and medical/hospice cases. I can provide medical services such as: administer oral, injectable and ear/eye medications. If you have a shy pup who isn't sure of new people or situations but still requires care while you are away, no need to stress as I come fully prepared and equipped with a variety of toys and treats (food accomodations are priority) to help relax even the most shy and reserved pups! I have the joy of working from home operating my own business. I have very open and flexible schedule availability and can dedicate as much time as needed to make sure your pups needs are met as an individual. I also provide free photo and video pupdates throughout each interaction and staycation so owners can see how their dogs are doing in my care. I have very strict safety protocol when it comes to the animals in my care. I ensure all doors and entryways are closed and totally secure before taking them out of a kennel or any other form of containment. I ensure that all dogs have on a proper fitting collar or harness and secure leash that is properly attached before exiting a house, entering any yard, entering or exiting a vehicle and before entering any uncontrolled environment. With boarding dogs, all of the above applies in addition to: everyone has their own kennel with their own water and food bowl, and their personal items that owners choose to bring from home. Most owners bring a blanket or bed and a favorite toy or a worn tshirt for anxious pups. All food is kept in labeled containers in their cubby along with their jewelry (leash and collar). No dogs are fed or housed together (unless requested upon drop off) and no dog is allowed in the yard without being under my direct supervision. I do not introduce client dogs to other client dogs, or allow them to interact in any fashion. Everyone goes out individually to avoid any stressful situations. In addition to dogs, I also have experience with and offer drop in visits only for cats, birds, reptiles and other exotic pets.

WE LOVE LEXY! She boarded Charlie very frequently as well as did a few drop-in visits (lifesaver!) and she always took care of Charlie as if she was one of her own pups. I had every confidence that Charlie was safe, cared for and loved! Very sad to move and lose this gem!
Lexy is really bright, capable, and considerate (just a few of her great qualities). And most of all she's great with the dogs (+). Her animal education and experience actually allowed me to relax while she had my dogs (and I didn't). My girls are in good hands when they are with Lexy.
I'm so thankful to have found Lexy here on Rover. She took great care of my two dogs, kept in contact and even sent picture updates while I was away. Thanks again Lexy ?.
Lexy was amazing! I’ve never felt more comfortable leaving my babies in someone’s care. She went above and beyond and helped troubleshoot house training a puppy among other things.

Information Lexy E. would like to know about your pet
Please notify me of any food restrictions/nutritional requirements/allergies beforehand so I can have the proper treats/rewards for your dog. If your dog doesn't take treats and you'd prefer a toy (balls, ropes, tugs, stuffed squeaky toys) please let me know and I will be stocked with all sorts of party favors for your pup! Please let me know if your pup is a bed chewer, or toy eater upon drop off or at our meet and greet, so I can adjust their areas and spaces accordingly.
A typical day
I advocate for enrichment and positive exposure in our canine companions. I use every interaction as a learning opportunity as well as a fun, safe adventure. I let the dogs decide if they are up for an adventure or if they would rather a lowkey session. Keeping them stress-free is paramount to me.. With clients dogs, I always try to maintain a low stimulation environment with minimal distractions (their own backyard or mine, a quiet neighborhood sidewalk or any other familiar environment is ideal) until the dog builds confidence. Once they're comfortable, I enjoy taking my dogs and clients' dogs for on leash walks in the woods, down the beach, and maybe even grabbing lunch at a local dog friendly restaurant with my pup. My dogs accompany me along my daily chores like going to the hardware store and other places that are dog friendly. Creating situations that the dog feels comfortable and happy to be in are my top priority.
