Active dogs are my jam

Pet care experience

There is something great about looking at your dog and seeing pure, unfiltered joy. There’s also something great about having your high energy pup sleep like a rock after a hike. Animals have been a passion for me since I could hold a stuffy. I started training my Aussies when I was 14. I cared for them through their whole lives. I’m thrilled that they hiked mountains even at 12 and 13 years old. When I lost them, I took up hiking with a shelter dog once a week. It gave me my dog fix, helped the pup and gave me experience with various breeds. Eventually it was time. Time for another dog of my own. We adopted Gypsy. A husky/lab. This girl is a wild one! Bounds of joyous energy. I’ve trained her to bikejor with me and she loves it. We hike, we swim, we practice tricks and agility, and sometimes we chill with a toy on the couch. My heart goes out to those who have high energy dogs. They aren’t easy, but that look of pure happiness! 😍

I can't say enough good things about Lex and her care for animals! We left our dog with her for 5 days and she sent us pictures, videos, and administered his medications. He is high energy and she made sure he got plenty of exercise. She even asked what our training commands were so she could work with him. I am a worrier and I didn't worry at all about my pup when he was with her! He had a blast and she'll be our go-to sitter for him.

I have know Lex for about 5 years now. She is definitely an animal lover. She has taken my Golden Retriever Daisy on many walks. Daisy just loves her and gets super excited when she sees her. Lex is very knowledgeable about dogs and cats. I feel very comfortable leaving Daisy in her care.

Lex has an amazing way with animals. She is deeply concerned with animals of all kinds, and has been since she was a child. She has trained her own dogs and her latest addition, a husky mix, has tested her skills in so many ways; but she is meeting and exceeding the task. She enjoys taking Gypsy on walks and runs, and Gypsy is thriving. Lex has also trained trained two of her cats! I would trust her with my dogs any day.

Alexa is an amazing animal caregiver. She has the experience of raising and rescuing many dogs, and a active lifestyle to ensure a happy puppy. If I needed someone to watch my doggo while I was away, or even just needed advice on caring for him, she would be the first person I’d ask. Not only would he get plenty of love and attention, but as he is high energy, I know she would make sure that he would get plenty of exercise. So I would definitely recommend her for doggy daycare.

Safety, trust & environment

We have 3 acres of land surrounded by national forest. All dogs are supervised while we adventure the beautiful mountainous area. I like pictures and will send owners adventure shots of your babies. Adventures are with moderate to high energy dogs in mind. However, I always look at each dog as an individual and would consider each dogs’ limits when hiking or doing any other exercise. For overnight stays, no need to pack the crate! I have a 1 crate available for boarding stays. It is a size large and would comfortably fit any dog but giant breeds. Just ask to make sure it’s available.

Information Lex S. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any allergies. It’s also important to let me know if your dog has any special needs (for example: deaf, blind, needs meds during day etc.) Safety is important to me. Please let me know how your dog responds to cats. Boarding can only be with cat friendly dogs for our little Cider’s safety. Any other info regarding personality is always appreciated. If you have any questions for me, ask away! Thank you!

A typical day

There are rivers, mountains, and forests that your dog will explore right in the area. I love working with active dogs, so there will be both mental and physical stimulation for your pup. At doggie daycare, your buddy will have an opportunity to hang out with other puppers, have some fun and eat some treats! If you’re a vacationer, this is a great option for a day you want to do some shopping, but don’t want to bring the “kids”. You have fun at the stores, they have fun in the woods! If your going away for vacation and can’t take the floof, I offer boarding. Your dog will be incorporated right into Gypsy’s (my dog’s) routine which includes daily walks and play time. Want your pup to come home squeaky clean after their escapade? I offer baths and brushing for an extra $15.
