Growing up, my family always had at least one dog my entire life. we owned a Shelty named Toby, and a beautiful golden named Jeff. I would love to have a dog of my own, but many apartments in the area don't allow them, so being able to play with, walk, and take care of other people's dogs is definitely the next best thing! My mother trained seeing-eye dogs for Occu-Paws during my high school years, which gave me tons of experience with puppies of several breeds. We would get the dogs shortly after they were ready to leave their litter, and they would stay with us about a year. Through this, I learned a good deal about obedience training, and overall dog psychology and behavior. It was always hard saying goodbye after growing attached to them though, but we knew they were going on to be someone's eyes. Both of the dogs my family owned growing were fortunate enough to have long, happy lives. Some days though, they needed a little help getting up, or some doggy pills for various ailments. I am a former college athlete, so exercise is still very important to me. I enjoy going on walks and runs, and having a dog to go on those with me would definitely make them even more fun.
