Much of my pet care taking experience comes from caring for my family’s pets. I’ve had cats since I was six, currently I have a torbie named Pancake who I’m working on leash training. I’ve picked up some skills in that realm if you’d like me to attempt to leash train your cat. I’ve also pet sat up to four elderly dogs at a time, mostly small - medium breeds, but I’m also comfortable with larger breeds. I used to walk some of the neighborhood dogs as a teenager back in Miami, including a 2yo pitbull mix, so I’m pretty confident in my ability to walk/ care for most breeds. I can pretty much do anything outside of extrapolating glands and grooming. I’m currently waiting to start graduate school, so I’ve got plenty of time free until my start date in August. I do have to attend to Pancake, so I have to be home at least once a day for a couple of hours. Otherwise I’m very flexible. I’m currently only offering pet care outside of my own apartment in order to respect Pancake’s space, she’s a bit picky about other animals unfortunately. While caring for your furry buddy in your home I will generally just follow your routine with them. That way although their human is gone the day has a sense of consistency. I’ve cared for geriatric pets on medications before, so I’m always sure to follow instructions very closely and ask questions if there’s anything I don’t know. Having an owner away is an upsetting time for every pet, so I do my best to make it a bit easier with fun distractions like going on walks, playing in the yard, or just lots of ear scratches.
