For the love of the dog!

Pet care experience

I've been pet sitting for co workers and friends since 2012 on and off just because I know personally I'm not ready for a dog but sitting for others have filled that void in my life until I'm ready. I really enjoy what I do and it gives me the pleasure of earning an additional income to go on trips and explore the world. In all, it's not about the money, it's about the relationships that I form not only with the owner but with the dog. I just don't want to be known as a dog sitter but more importantly as a friend. I do have a full time job from 8 - 5 with every other Friday off during my off season. If the dog needs to be let out during anytime of day, I don't have a problem with breaking away from work and letting them out. I just really enjoy dogs, the art in which they act and just how much they love.

We have always had a pet sitter stay at our house with our dogs when we were out of town, so when we moved to Houston I didn't know who we would use, luckily our neighbor gave us Lester's name. He has stayed with our dogs and cat many times, he is responsible, reliable, friendly, and our animals love him! Actually the very first time we used him, I had a terrible knee injury and ended up having to stay at our destination in the hospital and Lester was willing and able to help us out the extra week!!! You can't go wrong with Lester!

Information Lester S. would like to know about your pet

There are many important things that I would like to know about sitting for my potential clients's dog: 1. The routine of the dog. How many times do they need to be let out? Are they active? Do they enjoy playing fetch? Are they allowed on the bed or furniture? 2. Is the dog on any sort of medicine? If so, what are the dosages and usage. 3. How many times a day do they need to be fed? Are they allowed to have dog treats? 4. How do they react to other dogs? Are they friendly? Do I need to cross the street if another dog is coming down the same sidewalk? I can figure out a lot of information on my first meet and greet to what kind precautions to take I will need to take in order for the dog and I to have a wonderful time together.

A typical day

Honestly a dog is like a best friend. You can sit there for hours, hangout, not say a word and still enjoy every moment of that time spent. I'm very active but can be real chill at the same time. On any kind of walk I always let the dog have their time. If they want to walk then when can walk. If they want to take their time and sniff, I let them sniff. If they want to play fetch for hours upon hours then I am game for that as well. I love giving attention. When I do stay at a persons home, I typically sleep on the couch because that's where I feel most comfortable. I typically bring the dog bed if they have one to wherever I'll be sleeping inside of the residence.
