Pet care experience

I grew up with a variety of much loved family pets from tortoises to cats, dogs and a horse. I’ve always enjoyed the company of animals especially cats and dogs. I had my own dog for many years and during this time I also looked after my friends dogs when they went on holiday. I had a cat who lived for 21 years. I’ve experience administering medication to dogs if that’s required. My background is nursing. My partner Ewen and I brought up our family with the help of our Labrador retriever of 15 years. Ewen has had twelve dogs throughout his life and helped his father who was a vet, look after the dogs who came to their quarantine and boarding kennels. Ewen will be coming along on dog walks a few times each week when not working. I have experience bathing my friends dog and my own dog over several years so I'm happy to offer this service also. I'm available to care for your dogs 24/7. So I can focus entirely on what they would like to do. During daycare I will take your dog on at least one 1 hr walk ( usually 1 to 2hrs plus). While boarding overnight your dog will have 2 to 3 walks. The walks are tailored to your dogs needs.During adverse weather conditions I'll reduce the length and number of walks. There will be regular access as required to my garden. I have a private walled and fenced garden with a 6ft gate that leads directly into an enclosed park. It's full of trees and bushes for good sniffs. Your dog will have a warm welcome to my home with plenty indoor room to run around throughout their stay. I'm close to Holyrood and Regent road parks, London road gardens,Pilrig park and Calton hill . Your dog would be coming to a caring, fun loving home with plenty areas to play, roll about, stretch and coorie in to.

Lesley is fantastic, I couldn’t have asked for a better person to look after Juno every week. Juno clearly loves spending the day with Lesley and the other dogs. They’re really well looked after and I love getting all the photo and video updates throughout the day :)

My Welsh Terrier, Angus, had a great day with Lesley again. Lesley sent me several videos and pics of Angus playing with his new friends in the house, garden and on their walks. I think he had the time of his life. Thanks again Lesley, see you soon.

When your dog stays with me we'll spend the first part of the day in the kitchen which leads into the garden. The garden door is open in nice weather to give your dog free access to the outdoors.I supervise the dogs at all times indoors and out. I have several comfy chairs for your dog to coorie into. I ensure that fresh, clean water is always available. Later in the day we go upstairs to the lounge. Your dog is very welcome to get comfy on the furniture. There's a large window in the lounge for the dogs to look over the garden and adjoining park. They're often fascinated by the view of birds, squirrels and other dogs in this park. When having an overnight stay I'll sleep in the same bedroom as your dog. They'll have fresh drinking water beside them and care is taken to ensure the room temperature is comfortable for sleeping. Your dog is welcome to sleep on the bed . I have plenty floor space for your dogs own bed or crate to sit in this room.

A typical day

I would like to know all about your dog and if there are any games that are favourites I'll whole heartedly play them throughout their stay with me. I can offer frequent access to a secure garden that opens onto an enclosed park. Walks to Holyrood park , Hillside crescent ,London road gardens, Calton Hill, Regent road park and Pilrig park are all easily accessed from my home. Early morning( for overnight stays) we'll pop into the garden / adjoining park then back to the house for breakfast. Mid morning( once the other dogs have arrived) we'll head for a long walk(usually one hour plus) In the afternoon we'll often go for a shorter second walk (usually 15 to 30 mins) and /or spend time in the garden together. If staying overnight I go on another walk with your dog once the day care dogs have gone home. The frequency and distance of our walks are adjusted to the needs and preferences of your dog and any adverse weather conditions.

Availability

I'm available to look after your pets at the weekend and during the week. I'll enjoy a good meander around the park with your dog. I'll wait for them to finish sniffing before moving on and ensure we have at least two water stops on longer walks and more when the weather is warm. I look after dogs who enjoy the company of other dogs and humans. The maximum number of dogs each day is 3 unless a repeat pet owner is in need of urgent help in which case I'll accept a fourth booking.
