Pet care experience
I had taken care of my family dog until he passed last year. Although it was hard to see him go, I seem him through my own dog. I have a pittie (River Madness) who I adore, and for the last 2.5 we have really shaped a great relationship with training. We worked with 2 other trainers up in VT to go on pack walks in the woods. There I found the best approach to working with dogs, in a calm yet assertive manner. I learned a lot about body language, and how much even the way I walked effected her. We still train whenever we can, and I have helped some of my friends with their dogs. Theres more for me to learn (obvi). But I feel a lot more confident in my abilities as not only a trainer but a dog owner.

River is a mix between my dog and my child. I find that when I see her as my child I see more of her (let’s just say) spunky behavior as comical or “sassy”. However, she is my dog who I got for a purpose. Thus, through our training I’ve been able to look thru both of the lenses. She has a crate, I don’t lock it unless we have guests over or pet friends come by (so we can appropriately get her acclimated). She’s free to roam wherever it’s meant to be a safe space or a calming one. She is however, NOT allowed in my room or on the furniture. But that is not a problem for either of us, because we have boundaries. Which is an essential key to training and owning a pup. But yeah I love her and all her quirks, I find my own behavior is a big thing she reacts on.
Information Angelina O. would like to know about your pet
I have a list of things I’d like to know before meeting any kind of dog. Regardless of the purpose so here’s to name a few: -What is your relationship with your pup? -How has their history been with new people/handlers? -Do we have a favorite object/command/thing that can center them in case of anxiety or stress? -Training history (commands, “tricks”, etc)? -What is their routine? And then of course going off of that we can discuss more my style of handling your pet and what would make us ALL feel comfortable!
A typical day
I love going on long walks. I am an active person so I will make sure your pet gets all it’s energy. I do live next to a golf course that I frequently take my pup to. It’s nice because it offers “nature” and and a sense of calmness. I could play tug of war for hours. Love playing with whatever toy your pet enjoys. I have a variety of tug toys, chewy toys, fluffy toys, but especially BALLS. River is kinda obsessed with them so we have them on always deck. But I can offer them training services or some sort of thing where we can work the brain and the body. I find with River she can play for HOURS and train for minutes. (Not actually that exaggerated now, but when I first started training her she didn’t fully understand why her brain was so exhausted because I had not much structure.)

Availability
I currently work in the Seaport in Boston, so that can be a commute. Plus with my dog I do have to prioritize her needs which is why I could do early morning services Tue-Sat. Sun-Mon I have off which I usually spend with River, so those days I could offer more services at more times. There can be some wiggle room throughout the week, but that’s something we can message about!
