I will treat your pet like my own!
Pet care experience
I excel at communicating and am reliable, responsible, and meticulous. I’m passionate about animals and my dog is like my kid; I understand leaving your pet can be difficult and aim to put your mind at ease. Because of my empathy and love for animals, I take sitting very seriously and go above and beyond to establish trust and demonstrate my level of care. My goal is always to do whatever it takes to make your pet happy. A dog boarding or sitting with me includes multiple walks during the day and lots of love and TLC with your fur baby. Depending on your dog’s needs, I will also take your dog for hikes, dog parks (if allowed), and plenty of TLC cuddle sessions at home. 🧼🧹🧽Want your home sparking clean when you return? Cleaning is also available on request for an additional fee. I am a meticulous and thorough cleaner. Note: My rates are not negotiable and reflect my experience and number of positive reviews. Sittings, drop ins, and walks 10 miles and over from me will incur an additional $20 a day. **A note regarding overnight house sitting for your pet: Overnight house sitting includes spending the night as well as 2 additional 30-minute walks during the day. If you need constant care for your pet or need me to be there for the majority of the day (in addition to night), my rates will be higher as I won’t be able to book other clients and it’ll be a big time commitment. I have my own pet insurance and am American Red Cross Cat and Dog First Aid certified. I also have a certificate for successfully completing Melanie Monteiro's course, "Dog CPR, First Aid, + Safety for Pet Pros + Dedicated Owners." My "photos" section includes copies of these certificates and proof of pet sitting insurance. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Juilliard and my Master's Degree from Northwestern University and worked at Northwestern University for over a decade. My career and degrees required a lot of dedication and discipline and my work ethic transfers to pet sitting. I love all animals and am also happy to care for cats, bunnies, reptiles, and rodents. I grew up on a small farm in Vermont with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, and goats. At a very young age, I had to wake up very early to care for all of these animals. These responsibilities led to me developing a strong work ethic and becoming very disciplined and these characteristics are ingrained in me. You will receive video and photo updates regularly as well as written summaries on the app about how your pet is doing. I always keep my clients' communication needs in mind in addition to providing the best level of care for your pet. *For rates, please keep in mind that this is a highly personalized service tailored to you and your pet. For overnight sittings and drop-ins, please consider what it's worth to you to have someone drop in or stay overnight with your pet instead of boarding them in a kennel. Also, keep in mind the time away from home a sitter will spend to attend to your pet, the time it takes traveling for the sitter, and that Rover will assess a 20% commission fee which is deducted from Rover sitters’ final payment.
Reviews
My Frenchie named Penny had not been away from me for any extended period of time since I adopted her. Leah provides lots of communication and pictures which eased my mine. She took Penny for walks. When Penny got tired, she got to ride in a carriage. How cute!
Leah took great care of Mia while we were out of town for a few days. She kept me updated and sent photos throughout the entire trip. Mia was a happy girl and loves hanging out with Leah!
Always really awesome thank you!!
Amazing! Great communication and she was able to take care of my pets at the last minute over the holidays. Highly recommend!

I live in an apartment, but there is a fenced dog run steps away from my unit that is rarely used. I also go for miles and miles walking every day. Hiking is another option. I can also take your dog to dog parks depending on your comfortability with dog parks.

Information Leah S. would like to know about your pet
I am very comfortable administering medication and giving injections. Please make sure that your pet is current on vaccinations, especially rabies & bordetella. I also will need to know any health issues such as food allergies or dietary limitations. Finally, I'll need to know any behavioral problems or triggers that your pet has so that I can be prepared to handle them when they arise. For example, if your dog is nervous during car rides or is reactive when walking past other dogs on a leash, those would be important things to disclose to me.
A typical day
I am a very active person. Depending on your needs, I will take your dog hiking, running, walking, or to dog parks. I won’t take your dog to dog parks without your consent first as I know they can be controversial and there is also the new respiratory disease that is going around to be aware of. For older less active dogs, I’m happy to spend the day taking short walks and giving scratches and TLC. **Note: Drop-ins outside my service radius are an additional $15/day.
