Pet care experience
My family has fostered over thirty dogs the past ten years. My mom fosters for Last Hope Animal Rescue in Cedar Rapids and I volunteer with her, normally as a dog handler. I loved learning how to take care of a variety of dog breeds, sizes, and personalities. I grew up with dogs my entire life, so I know how important it is to have someone trustworthy watching your loved doggos while you’re away. I have dogsat before for a variety of families for over three years. If your dogs have specific medicines or a specific feeding/walking schedule, I will make sure to do everything they are used to. I am used to older dogs or dogs who tend to pee and poop in the house; I’m used to cleaning it up and it doesn’t bother me.

Leah did a great job house sitting and looking after my two dogs. She was thorough in understanding their needs and routines. I appreciated her reaching out when one of my dogs unexpectedly began biting at his paw too much and she was glad to apply medication. Hoping she's available next time!
We have had Leah dog sit for us for the past 8 years. Once we found her we have never called anyone else. She treats our fur babies like her own. They love going to see her. Leah is very responsible, reliable, trustworthy and hardworking. I highly recommend her!

I feed pets I’m watching on a regular schedule (based on the owner’s routine). I spend as much time as possible with the pet and try not to be away from the house for too long. When I am booked to watch a pet, they are my number one priority.

I would like to know what the dogs’ daily routine is and anything extra they need. Is there medicine they have to talk at a specific time? How often do they need let out? Are they allowed on the furniture?
A typical day
The activities vary based on the dog. For older or lazier dogs, I will sit with them, pet them, and just be with them constantly. For younger, more active dogs, I will walk them (if the temperature allows). Depending on a pet’s diet, I love taking them to Culver’s to get a pup cup!

I am currently student teaching, so on the weekdays I have teacher hours. When school is done I do not have anything going on in the evenings, which I will spend at home with the dog(s).
