We're ready to LOVE ON your PETS!

Pet care experience

Our family loves to LOVE ON PETS! Over the years, we have rescued, fostered, owned, and cared for dogs, cats, fish, birds, a hermit crab (who is 12+ years old!), and a turtle to name a few. I grew up owning dogs, cats, and other critters, AND my three boys (10, 14 and 15) affectionately carry on the tradition! In our family, Rule #1 is: Respect ALL people and animals. We like to learn and figure out how to work, play, and relax with different pets' personalities. (Rule #2: Always have a "T.R.E.A.T." in your pocket!) We have two very sweet and shy (fully vaccinated and registered) cats who have their own "upstairs apartment". We hope to adopt our own dog in the future. For dog-parents looking to board your pups, I'm excited to meet your team and to host your pups "downstairs" in my warm, safe, and spacious home. We love to sit and play with the dogs on my shaded back patio or let them soak in some sun in our play yard. Some dogs enjoy being part of a Nerf War, and others prefer to cuddle on the sofa near the kid who is gaming or doing homework! I have different rooms for sleep/calm time and can feed dogs separately if needed. When packing to come over, don't forget to send a safe blanket that smells like you. Please see ***OVERNIGHT BOARDING*** and ***FOR THE MEET & GREET*** information at bottom. For dog-boarding OR dog-walking service, we are blessed to live in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of gorgeous shade trees that are perfect for dog-walking. The beautiful Chisholm Trail, which we frequently walk and run, is a half block from our home and is a pure delight for many many dogs AND for us. (Whether your dog wants to walk, jog, or plop down on the sidewalk for a minute, consider it done!) Be sure to pack your doggy's treats, leash (and harness, gentle leader, etc. if needed), poop bags, brush, chew and tug items, and food and bowls. I am First Aid/CPR/AED certified and am experienced in administering insulin and subcutaneous fluid injections. I have experience with special needs and senior dogs. I have taught, volunteered, and done professional care with younger and older children for most of my life, so I understand the need for safe practices inside and outside of my home. I take the health of safety of ANY pet I am responsible for AND the people he/she is around VERY seriously. To this end, I am available to provide drop-in pet-care for you. I'm familiar with various home security systems, and I'll gladly check your mail and water your potted plants. If you're interested in combining drop-in pet-care with dog-walking service like several of my clients have done, I'd love to book YOUR team for a trial run (erm, walk?!).

Lavonne took such good care of Miley! She was very attentive to her needs and her behavior issues. I received many updates and a picture of her all snuggled up with the family! I felt very confident that she was in good hands! Thanks so much and we will be booking again.

Lavonne is very experienced and compassionate with animals and she communicated with me (initially and with follow-ups) in a way so that I felt very comfortable with my fur-kids in her care. She is knowledgeable about giving insulin and my diabetic kitty Jazzy did very well. I am really happy to have found Lavonne and she is scheduled to visit again when I will be out of town!

Lavonne paid attention to my bubba’s every need. He is a recent rescue and has some quirks about him and she tuned in on those and noticed some behaviors that I hadn’t seen. She sent frequent updates with pictures, asked questions if she needed more information. Boarding with Lavonne was perfect, he came back so happy and healthy. For reference, I boarded for 17 days while I was overseas and it was so nice to know he was safe and loved. She truly loves the dogs she cares for and you can tell. Thank you, Lavonne!!!!

***FOR THE MEET & GREET or BEFORE CARE BEGINS*** Please bring or text current proof of Rabies, Parvovirus, Adenovirus, Distemper, Hepatitis Type 2 vaccines, and city licensing. I am unable to accept pets who are not up to date with Rabies vaccine/city licensing, who are physically aggressive to humans, not house trained, OR who have active or untreated: fleas, worms, bacterial infections, viruses (or associated coughing), diarrhea, vomiting, or fever. If a pet becomes ill with any of the above symptoms, s/he will need to be picked up within 24 hrs or seen by a veterinarian. For a life-threatening illness or injury, s/he will receive immediate professional emergency care per the agreed Rover policy and in conjunction with the "Rover Emergency Hotline". Although rarely needed, I highly recommend that you list your preferred veterinarian and emergency care and file your credit card/payment information with them. ***ONE OVERNIGHT BOARDING IS UP TO A 23 HOUR CYCLE. CHECK-IN is 12-2pm (or later) and CHECK-OUT is 9-11am. If you will possibly be later, please discuss this in advance so that we can discuss possible arrangements. If you will be later than 6pm, you will need to book an additional night of boarding. This allows me to have a clean and orderly home for all pets and families! ***WHAT WE WILL DISCUSS*** 1) Please tell me if your dog has ever been physically aggressive with humans, dogs, or food. Some situations are workable, but I do need to know. 2) Is your dog house-trained or pee-pad trained? What's his routine and sign for needing to go? 3) What is your pet's care/feeding/medication instructions, health issues, dislikes, and emergency contact person? 3) Do you have payment information on file with your vet , and what is your vet's contact information? 4) Does your dog ever run away? If so, how do you get them back? 5) Tell me about your dog's eating and sleeping routines. 6) What kind of/how many/when do you give treats? Does s/he know special commands?

A typical day

I am available for dog-walking and drop-in pet sitting Mondays through Saturdays 9am-3pm and Sundays 2-5pm. I love to walk, jog, play, and hike outdoors... rain OR shine! In addition to feeding, interacting uniquely with your pet, and cleaning up his/her waste, I can also bring in your mail and water your indoor houseplants to your specifications. For boarding and dog-walking: If your pup likes to socialize with other dogs, we love to visit the Jack Carter Dog Park! We are ready to play, snuggle, or both!
