Sharing my love of animals

Pet care experience

I left corporate America after 15 years to take the leap and follow my true passion- working with dogs and animals in general. I pride myself with my ability to read and assess each dogs individual personality traits and adjust our interactions accordingly. Whether it be a dog who presents as aggressive but in actuality is scared and needs a confident yet reassuring human or an otherwise friendly dog, but can someone become leash aggressive and thus needs me as a walker to be on the lookout for any slight change in body posture to anticipate and redirect any obstacles. I have had many different types of animals as pets throughout my life spanning the gamut from dogs(1 Cockapoo and 2 German Shepherds) and cats, to guinea pigs, birds, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and small reptiles. Dog walking/sitting- I am very comfortable with any size/breed of dogs. I also have the patience and humor to walk puppies. I’ve walked and owned dogs ranging in size from 100lbs+ German Shepherd Dogs down to 15lb pugs, so size isn’t an issue. I also have experience walking leash aggressive dogs and insecure ones who may have recently been rescued and are still adjusting to their new “normal”. Dog/House Sitting- I’ve house sat pets for numerous friends and family members for decades. From homes with just a single dog to a family with 5 dogs, 2 cats and 5 chickens! I have watched pets for short periods of time, such as a couple hours couple weeks all the way up weeks at a time, if available. I am currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Associates Degree Program with Penn Foster. From there I plan on becoming a Certified Dog Trainer.

We are repeat clients of Laurie’s. She does an amazing job of taking care of our senior kitty, including spending one on one time with her to keep her more active and less stressed. Laurie also takes the most beautiful photos of our fur-love and sends them to us daily while we are away. We highly recommend Laurie for pet sitting!

Laurie has a lot of reviews for her excellent care of dogs, but I did not see as many for cats. So, I was initially hesitant about leaving my nervous and shy senior kitty that has a thyroid condition in her care. No need for any hesitation…Laurie has a “way with cats” too. She does a great job …was dependable, skilled, and attentive to my cat. Laurie did everything we asked and more, including watering plants and bringing in the mail. We definitely recommend Laurie.

Laurie is fantastic! I was extremely comfortable leaving my pup in her care. Will definitely book with her again!

Information Laurie P. would like to know about your pet

We will go over this during our meet and greets however I will need to know of any health issues/medications the dog has, if your dog has a personality/behavior that may need extra attention ie. fearful, leash aggressive, dog aggressive, food/toy aggressive. 95% of the time, any of these needs can be worked through but your pets well-being is top priority- even if I am not the right match!

A typical day

Each dog is different, some love being around other dogs, others are more of people living instead. I work with the owners do decide what their dogs love and provide that as much as possible. Whether it’sa a game of fetch in the back yard, a long walk through the woods, or even lounging on my lap on the couch all day. I’ll do whatever is needed to ensure your pets needs are met
