Great with nervous dogs
Pet care experience
Hi, I’m Lauren, a lifelong dog owner and pet enthusiast. I don’t have professional sitting and walking experience outside of Rover, but I’ve looked after my friends’ pets in the past. I’ve also taken multiple basic and advanced canine training courses as well as classes specifically for handling reactive and aggressive temperaments. These courses made me realize how much I enjoy learning about and working with dogs. I’m currently looking for a canine trainer apprenticeship opportunity. In April 2018, I adopted my own pup, a cattle dog mix, from the Boulder Humane Society. She was a stray before her stay at the Humane Society, and I brought her home knowing she had some behavioral problems. I believe that every dog deserves a loving home, and she was such a sweetheart that it wasn’t a difficult choice. She is terrified of both strange people and animals and tends to have a skittish reaction, so she requires extra attention on walks. In my home, I have delicious all-natural doggie treats and plenty of toys to choose from! There’s a small dog park in my apartment complex with agility equipment. There are also two open-space parks within walking distance from my home as well as an elementary school with a very large field in the back.
Reviews
I used Lauren many times and she was great!
We have an extremely fearful and reactive dog, and Lauren took the time to come to our house and work with our trainer to get our pup to the point where she was able to safely interact with her. Lauren's time and patience with our dogs was so appreciated. Unfortunately, Lauren lacked professionalism while watching our dogs when we were out of town. She skipped the first check in, then lied to me when I asked her about it (our security system shows she never came to the house). During our vacation, Lauren provided very minimal information about the condition of the dogs and was often late letting them out. I had asked her to water my plants and bring in the mail and she did neither. Overall, I think that Lauren is very good with dogs. She bonded with our reactive dog, which was not an easy task.. However, I hope that she learns to be more professional and reliable in the future.
This was the first time that I used Rover and I selected Lauren because she had good reviews. My apartment complex is fairly secure and both a key and fob are needed for entry. I had a difficult time arranging the meet and greet with Lauren to give her the fob and key. She stood me up twice before we finally met. Likewise, it was difficult getting the key and fob back. Lauren failed to show up four times over two days before I called Rover customer service to get their assistance. During this time my husband and I had to take turns being at home so we could let the other one into the complex. I believe Lauren took good care of my pet, but wanted to let you know what I experienced before and after the pet visit.
Lauren was great with Annie!

Information Lauren V. would like to know about your pet
Does your pet get along with other dogs? Would they like to go to a dog park? How do they behave around people? What are their favorite toys, games, treats, or walking routes? Does your pup have any allergies or food sensitivities?
A typical day
When I meet a new pooch, I don’t approach them too fast, and I keep my voice happy and calm while kneeling down. Then, I’ll offer my hand from a distance so that they can decide whether to approach me for a sniff. I might also offer your pet a treat, but I’ll always double-check with you about allergies or food sensitivities. When I pet sit, I always arrive on time and will ask if there’s anything I should know that we haven’t already covered. I’ll come prepared with treats, poop bags, water, and a collapsible bowl. (I can also bring toys with me upon request.) When we go on walks, we’ll head to one of the open-space parks near my home or another nice walking path nearby. I’d love to take lots of pictures of your dog while I’m taking care of them and send them to you while you’re away. I look forward to meeting your pooch!
