Pet care experience
Currently the loving owner of 2, 6yr old kitty cats (Xena & Mittens). Grew up with mixed breed cats, a Dalmatian and a chocolate lab so I have helped to take care of animals since I was a kid. I have always had a pet in my life and love animals. I have 10 yrs experience house sitting with dogs & cats, but can also take care of other family animals (Guinea Pigs, Fish, Rabbits, etc... just ask!) If I am taking care of your pet(s), I will take care of your home. (includes watering plants too). It is important for me to know any limitations or special needs that your pet(s) may have. Let me know their favorite activities too!

Lauren went above and beyond to help track down one of my indoor/outdoor cats that had gone missing. My cat somehow got herself stuck in a neighbor's abandoned house and Lauren found her! If it weren't for Lauren, my cat could have been stuck there for who knows how long. I would trust Lauren with my babies anytime!
Huge thanks to Lauren again for taking wonderful care of my furry family while I was away. It's reassuring knowing our old dog and two cats are in her good care.
Lauren is great! Communicates well and is very flexible and easy to schedule with. Super nice and sent lots of pics! All my babies were in great care with her and I look forward to having Lauren stay again :)
We're so grateful to have Lauren house sit our senior dog and our two cats. It was wonderful being able to take a week away and not worry about their care knowing Lauren was here.

I currently live with 2 cats, who think I love on them a little too much maybe. My cats sleep with me at night and are able to follow an eating schedule, usually letting me know when they want their next meal. I can take dogs on a leash on a walk around the neighborhood, a fenced in yard we can spend time outside playing, let me know if there are areas of the house that are off limits to your pets, include if they are allowed on couches/beds and if they have a habit of eating off the floor, or if that is something you do not let them do. During house sitting requests I am usually with the pets the majority of the day and night. I may leave during a house sitting request for an errand, to take care of another pet request or love on my own cats.

What are the favorite activities? What do they not like or what might make them upset? General information about their age, weight, type of dog, vet info. Are they scared of anything (like thunder)? What is their health like - any allergies, medications needed, conditions, or are they in normal health? Does anything restrict how much activity they might be able to do, like a heart condition or injury? How do they act around other dogs or people that we may come across on walks or at the dog park? Are they a dog that likes to run for the door whenever it is opened?
A typical day
When taking care of your pet, they will have my full attention while I am with them. If they have any favorite activities then I will make sure to do those... A walk around the neighborhood or on a trail accessible near the house, take them to a dog park, play in the backyard, play with their favorite toys inside or outside. Where we walk would depend on your location.

Availability
I am currently an online VCU MSW grad school student with the flexibility and love to take care of pets while I work towards my graduate degree. I am available most days for drop-in visits, dog walking, and house sitting. I do my best to keep my availability up to date and will be upfront with any conflicts in the dates or time you might request. I may restrict my house sitting requests within a month but please feel free to ask about flexibility, I may be able to make exceptions to my schedule. I usually will also see my own cats, who have another caretaker all the time at home as well, during house sitting requests.
