Pet care experience
I am an extremely caring and professional animal lover! I have had dogs and cats nearly my entire life and love nothing better than being around them. I have a bachelors degree in Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation and several years of experience as an animal care technician in an animal welfare league as well as a vet technician in an animal hospital. I can handle big and small, sick and healthy, old and young, lazy and crazy; you name it! As a behaviorist, I am extremely comfortable and confident with a variety of responses and situations and will always treat your dog (or cat, or lizard, or bird!) with the utmost respect. I just moved to Colorado and am unemployed, so I have all the time in the world to spend with your four-legged friends.

Lauren has been a real blessing to our family, always there when we need help with our dog Sugar, who loves her. She's very responsible, prompt, and so caring with all our pets that you can really tell she loves animals. I'd highly recommend her!
Lauren was always my go-to dog watcher any time I went away on vacation! I have three dogs, all with very different personalities and needs, and Lauren was so great with all of them. She can keep big, goofy, energetic Hermes, my German Shepard, in line along with my miniature dachshund Poppy and Susan, my nervous and recently adopted pit-boxer mix. Susan is very shy and skittish around most people and I believe she must have been neglected by her former owners, and Lauren was always so patient with her and able to keep her calm around other people and unfamiliar dogs and teach her tricks! I knew I never had to worry about the dogs if Lauren was the one who was with them.
I have a 4 year old Black Lab/German Shepherd mix, and Lauren came to my apartment to watch him while I was travelling. My dog is a rescue with some trust issues (he can get overwhelmed and overstimulated quickly), so I needed someone who could handle a large dog in a safe and sensitive way. It was also important for me to have someone trustworthy because I was travelling out of the country for two weeks. I hired Lauren, and she took excellent care with my dog. She came and stayed at my apartment so my dog didn't have to go through the stress of relocating somewhere unfamiliar. She was sensitive to his needs, and she knew when to give him space. She took him on long walks every day, played with him, and provided everything he needed. She even taught him a new trick! By the time I got home, Lauren had taught my dog how to "play dead". Lauren is a dog care professional, and I felt secure knowing she was watching my dog.
Lauren has watched my two dogs (shih tzu/poodles) and my cat on many occasions, and she has always done an awesome job. She has stayed at my home while I have gone out of town, from a few days to over a week. Lauren has a high level of expertise in animal care; it's not just her passion, it's her career. She has a degree in Animal Behavior, and she has worked in a shelter, so she knows the best ways to communicate and connect with animals, even if they are scared or timid. (Even my cat, who is afraid of everyone, loves Lauren!) Lauren knows how to recognize signs of illness or injury, and she has administered medicine to many animals, including my dogs. One of my dogs is a senior (15 years old) and I always feel comfortable leaving her with Lauren because I know she is in good hands if there is ever an emergency. In fact, one of my dogs once had a serious health scare while I was away, and she went into shock. Lauren quickly recognized what was wrong, got her to an emergency vet, and stayed with her all night. Lauren has always gone above and beyond for my pets. She is not just a casual pet sitter; she has expert knowledge and training, and she has provided care for thousands of animals in a shelter setting. I trust her completely, and I recommend her to anyone.

I am a big proponent of positive reinforcement and training, so maybe if there's time we can even work on some new tricks!
