Pet care experience
**For safety reasons, I only accept same day requests for dogs and cats I have met before** I've loved and had animals my whole life. I grew up with three cats of completely different energy levels, but had always wanted a dog. When I was 12, I made a Powerpoint presentation for my parents convincing them to get a dog with a few different adoptee options from Petfinder. That endeavor was successful, and fueled my love for animals even more. I trained our new rescue puppy, Kissa, in all the basics (potty-training, walking behaviors, sit, stay, etc.) and was her main caretaker until moving out for college. I now have an adorable cat of my own - who is diagnosed with HCM. Because of my extensive personal experience in petcare, I'm comfortable taking care of pets of all ages, needs, and energy levels.

I will follow all your home rules while doing homestays; exactly what I would expect of someone staying at my home taking care of my cat. I will ensure the home is tidy upon your return. Additionally, I will request a detailed description of any conditions your pet has, what to look out for, and ensure I have all necessary emergency contact information. For cat/dog drop-ins, I will ask about the routine requested (feeding, playtime, etc.) and follow your instructions exactly. For feline friends, let me know if your cat is friendly or if they're more of a watch and see what happens type of kitty. For pup friends, I am able to accommodate short walks during the drop-in. For walks, I will use the walking apparatus and any special direction you provide (amount of give on leash, for example). I will also ask about your dog's particular behaviors to ensure a smooth walking experience. I'm 5'11" and athletic and comfortable with walking larger dogs.

Definitely let me know if your beloved pet has any special needs, medical conditions, behavior concerns, or anything else you would like to share. It's important for me to schedule activities for your pet that fit their particular needs. For example, if your dog doesn't like other dogs, I'll make sure to take them for walks on less busy routes.
A typical day
Depending on your location and your dogs' preferred activities - I will adjust my plans! If your dog is energetic, I would love to take them for walks, hikes, swims, or to play fetch! I am a runner, so happy to take any particularly high energy dogs for runs. If your dog is more of a couch potato, I'm more than happy to stay around the house and lounge. I'll make sure your pups get plenty of cuddles!

I work from home during the week, and love the chance to get away from my computer to drop in on cats and dogs and/or get some dogwalking in. Because of my schedule, I am able to accommodate weeklong homestays or longer.
