Working hard for my dog

Pet care experience

Over the three decades, my parents have owned 9 German shorthaired pointers, with Coco and Cowboy being their current two and Yeti being my own Velcro dog. I have also volunteered where I can with rescues by transporting, fostering a medical puppy, and even coordinating the care and adoption of a dog. Other relevant experience includes caring for my friend’s chocolate lab who has epilepsy, ensuring he gets his meds on time and bathing him since he was stink, stank, stunk. Growing up with multiple dogs I know how to not only walk them together but also watch body language to prevent a fight from breaking out. For the felines, I grew up with two cats, Shaka kitty and Remy, and it was one of my nights chores to take care of the litter situation. In April I watched a tabby who hated everyone but his owner and I, giving him with wet food, playing with him, and cleaning his litter box as well. I am well experienced in taking care of pets and making sure they're love and well taken care of.

Lauren was more than perfect for our two crazy pointers. It's actually very hard to find someone who can handle our Vizsla and German Shorthaired Pointer. Before she arrived for the first scheduled visit, our Vizsla jumped the fence. He ran around our neighborhood and was lost for about 2 hours. Lauren came by and walked with our GSP until we found him. We are very thankful for Lauren's commitment and trustworthiness. She was great during every visit. She also kept us updated and sent photos. We enjoyed having her in our home and the pups loved her. We would not hesitate to book her again!

Lauren was FANTASTIC!!! Our doggies loved her - especially our cockapoo who is frequently scared of new people. Our AC went out during the stay and Lauren communicated it with us and took every step she could to make sure the dogs were comfortable and the repairs could be done. We would use her again in a heartbeat.

Yeti is spoilt, simply put. He has two $150+ dog beds and will still occasionally sleep in bed or on the couch with me. He always has access to water and has free roam of my place when I’m home, but when I leave he is crated. For walks I do use a pinch collar and have used e-collars before for training as well as for underground fencing. I also know to never rush a dog when meeting for the first time or when still unfamiliar and to let them sniff you first, don’t bend over them, etc. A lot of my care for other people’s animals is based on how their humans care for them, as dogs tend to do best with routine and structure.

Currently I am getting a second bachelors degree in nursing from Baylor, hence why my calendar looks the way it does and is subject to change. My availability tends to be in the mornings and afternoons, but with the sun setting earlier, I try to be home by 5-6pm so I can take care of my own dog.
