I started sitting for the Rover website in June 2019. During my time so far with Rover, I have sat for nineteen pets in eight families (many cats, dog, rabbit, ferret, fish, gerbils) and I love them all! I also have a long history of taking care of pets for friends, family, and neighbors in the past. I have always loved animals of all kinds (cats, dogs, turtles, hamsters, fish, birds, lizards, mice, you name it!). I can't enter a pet store without spending 30 minutes fawning over the cute and interesting animals. I have a lot of experience in caring for older pets, small-medium dogs, cats, and administering oral and topical medication. I currently have 2 fur babies (cats) and grew up with Shih Tzu dogs. I would be happy to feed fish, birds, hamsters etc. along with your dog/cat. I truly love all animals, and will care for your fur baby (or other pet) as though he/she was my own. My availability on weekends, during summer and all other school breaks is usually wide open, to include afternoons and all major holidays. Monday-Friday during the school year my work day is from 8:30am - 4:30pm. My morning pet visits would be between 6-7am during the school year and immediately after work in the evening (anytime between 5:00-7:00pm). At each 30-minute drop-in visit I will be sure to care for your fur baby with fresh food and water, potty, and play/brushing as they prefer. I also offer hour-long visits for some extra play/walk/snuggle time if you prefer. I have experience giving medicine to both cats and dogs. One of my cats is on long-term oral liquid medicine, and he takes his medicine easily from a syringe twice per day (it helps that he likes the taste). I have also administered eye salve to a cat & hamster as well as ear medicine for a cat. I frequently sat for a family member's dog that took oral pills. Though she really needed her pills, she could smell them through the food and didn't like the taste. Her human mommy suggested a few tricks she used to convince her to take her medicine (distract with a second piece of food so she doesn't chew the first piece thoroughly etc.). With some patience she got her much needed medicine while mommy was away. I have a very gentle hand and will be patient and comforting to pets with all needs.
