I grew up with two labs and often helped walk them and give them baths. We also had two cats, whom I likewise would help feed and change the litter for; I even administered insulin shots to our diabetic kitty when he got older. When I was an au pair during college, part of my responsibilities included helping take care of the two family dogs. I walked them a few times a week, usually in wooded trails, plus occasionally fed them and took them to the vet. More recently, a roommate I lived with for two years had a dog whom I doted on as if she were my own! I would take her to the park to run around, and took care of her in his stead when he went out of town. I've also dog and cat-sat many times over the years for friends, family members, acquaintances, and two neighborhood pet care companies, and have a few regular clients. I work from home and have short breaks in my schedule during the day, so I could easily walk a pup or play with a kitty midday, not to mention mornings and evenings. On weekends we could go for longer excursions. I have a sizeable fenced patio attached to my small apartment. Dogs could comfortably hang out either inside or outside, but we could also go on walks in Clark Park, which is one block away. I am also happy to pack a bag and stay in a client's home, where their pets may be more comfortable, if they prefer.
