Better treatment than humans!

Pet care experience

I want to pet sit your dog! This is why: If it were up to me, I would have 10 or more dogs. But I don't have the property for that. Yet... So instead, through Rover, I will hopefully get the opportunity to be around dogs of all kinds. My past experience with dog care includes the following: Ever since I was born, there has been a dog in the house. I got my very own dog at the age of 11 and have had dogs ever since. They have all gone through obedience training and a couple have even been through agility training. Throughout my life, I have pet sitted for family, friends and neighbors. Both at my house and their houses. I have experience with new dogs, some with behavior issues through my time volunteering for Greenhill Humane Society. If you choose me to care for your dog, I would like to know the following: Any behavioral issues, problems with escaping, medical issues (I can administer medication in both shot and oral form) and bathroom issues. I would like you to leave me a number where I can get a hold of you in emergency situations. I offer both boarding and daycare services. I have a securely fenced backyard with a smaller fenced enclosure inside. I have two dog houses for the rougher Oregon weather and a kiddie pool for hot days. I have a doggie door into the house so your dog can have more of a choice where he/she'd like to be. My family members include my partner Erik, my son Lyrik who is 5 and who has been taught to be very respectful of any new/strange dog, my dogs Buddy and Fenrir and my cats Cheese and Marshmallow. Everyone in the home is very welcoming of new dogs, even the cats. If your dog does not like cats however, Cheese and Marshmallow have learned to accommodate to this as they have both lived with a dog that did not like cats one bit.

I have a hedgehog which can be a handful at times because you have to keep her cage at a certain temperature at all times, but Laurel did a great job watching her. I was comforted to know my hedgehog would be with Laurel's family when I was gone. We will be using her again.

Lauerl and her family, dogs and all were great! Kennedy hasn't been around other dogs a whole lot, so I was hesitant to leave her, but lauerl's dogs welcomed her and played non stop. Laurel sent me updates and pics. I would recommend her family, and the fenced yard was a plus! We will be using her again.

Information Laurel G. would like to know about your pet

I love dogs of all shapes and sizes. I would definitely like to know about any behavioral issue though. I can accept dogs in my home for longer than a week if they are okay with being outside without humans (i.e. no escape issues or separation anxiety issues) for longer than 8 hours as I work Mon-Fri. My backyard is fully fenced and safe however, some dogs will and can do anything possible to escape. This may even mean injuring themselves. If this is an issue, I will only accept the dog on the weekend when I can be with it full time.

A typical day

My favorite places to go on walks with dogs are hiking trails. I also live next to Riverbend hospital and like to take my dogs on the path next to it. If appropriate, I can take your dog to two nearby dog parks. Both my dogs love to swim so I am frequently near water with them. They both also just love plain old fetch.
