Paying it Forward, and Loving It!
Pet care experience
Why do I do this? I was never able to find "that" sitter for my anxious, high energy dog that would make me feel completely relaxed on my trips. I would always have moments wondering if she was getting enough love, enough exercise, enough attention. As a "Pay it Forward" for the incredible joy my dog gave me, I decided to become the pet sitter I always wished I had found for my sweet Kiwi. I limit the number of dogs and cats I care for so that I can truly give your pet 100% of my affection and attention. I have two primary goals in my pet sitting/walking business: First is to exercise, spoil, relax and bring happiness to their lives so that they feel safe and loved. Second is to allow you enjoy your time away from your pet with complete certainty that your very special family member is safe, happy, and very loved. ___________________________________________________________________________ Dog Walking: Does your pup love to walk? I am an avid walker that LOVES walking dogs. I have over 100 perfect 5 star ranking on the "other" dog walking website and I am excited to expand into Rover as a dog walker and sitter. Exercise can be a great de-stressor and I can cover almost 4 miles in an hour if your dog is up for it. If your dog enjoys a more leisurely pace, that is fine as well. I travel with plenty of water water and if OK'd with you, I will share a couple of healthy dog treat cookies to help facilitate the transition back to their home. (It's always nice to have a little treat to help celebrate the end of a fun walk.) Unsure if your dog will do well with a stranger walking them? Some dogs can be walked by almost anyone and have a great relaxing time during a walk with a stranger, if that is your pup congratulations! However, most dogs experience mild to extreme stress when their beloved pack leader has left them home alone and someone comes into their home without their pack leader being present. Until your dog understands the routine of a walk with me I will gladly take the time (my time, not your paid time) on both the front and back end of a walk to ensure that your dog is as comfortable as possible. Even when your dog trusts his walker, the transition back home can make the difference between a relaxed, tired dog and an anxious amped up dog that seems to have more energy than before the walk. Dog Boarding: When I do board pets I only take in one dog at a time (unless you have multiple pets from the same family) so that I can spend all of my time spoiling your pups. I understand that staying at a new place can be stressful, so I do ask for time to take your dog on at least one "Meet-and-Greet" walk which would include stopping by my home for a nice water break so that they can become accustomed to my home feeling like a safe relaxing place. Cat Drop-In's I am there for whatever it is your cat enjoys most: brushing, playing, sitting in a lap. I will also do whatever you need while I am in your home including things unrelated to your pet: mail pick up, water plants, open and close windows, etc.. You can be sure that upon your return your home will be as clean or cleaner than when you left! Laura came to my rescue once again and did an awesome job caring for my kitties. She always follows my detailed instructions perfectly, checks in with me regularly, and best of all, the kitties are healthy and happy upon my return. Thank you Laura!😸😽
Laura is truly a godsend. She is so patient with our reactive pup, and she cares so much about her well being. I feel so much better knowing she’s in good hands and getting exercise during the day and appreciate her notes and photos. She’s the dog auntie we didn’t know we needed!
Laura does such a thoughtful and thorough job when house/cat sitting for me. My kitties are a bit of a handful and she handles the job like a true pro! They are happy and healthy upon my return, she has followed all of my instructions to a tee and isn't afraid to ask questions if she has one. In addition, the kitties tend to be a bit messy here and there and when I arrive home tired from a long trip, the house looks just as I had left it or even better. She's wonderful and I highly recommend her.
Laura was by far the best pet sitter I’ve ever hired. She checked in dutifully, checked off every ask we had for care, but most importantly really seemed to get to know my kitties and care for them. I was nervous to leave one of my cats with a sitter due to him being recently diagnosed as diabetic, but she handled injections like a pro and updated me with full summaries and pictures to make me feel at ease/reassured while I was away. Apart from that, she even did things I didn’t request but that were so helpful, like watering my Christmas tree and bringing in Amazon packages. I could go on endlessly, but please know that if you hire Laura, her care will exceed your expectations and leave you worry-free that your pets are well-cared for!

Information Laura W. would like to know about your pet
Are there any dietary restrictions for your pet? Any behaviors that I should be on the lookout for? How far and how long would you like your dog to be walked- encourage them to keep moving or allow them to have a slow smell filled walk? Is there anything special you do or say to transition them back to staying at home alone?
A typical day
I am a big fan of the natural hidden paths and quiet roads in and around Point Loma… few cars and lots of good smells. For my boarders I enjoy a balanced routine of exercise (walks) and mental stimulation (games, hiding challenges, tugging, fetch, etc..) followed by a relaxing tummy rub, a good brushing or whatever your pet prefers to calm down.

Happily retired with time on my hands and passion in my heart for all furry friends. I do love my evening time with my husband so I do prefer ending my pet care appointments by 5pm.
