Loving individualized care
Pet care experience
My focus is on providing specialized care tailored for your dog's specific needs, therefore I only take one dog at at time (or two if you have multiple dogs.) My schedule is flexible and I will provide as much love, attention, and activity as your dog needs from daily walks, to cuddles, to yard time, to giving medicine, to play time, and everything in between. Since I was a young child, I have always been an animal lover and nurturing caregiver from rescuing and raising a baby squirrel that fell out of it's nest to helping turtles safely cross the road. Growing up, my family dog was my best buddy and I took primary responsibility for his care. As an adult, I traveled frequently for work so until 2020 didn't have a dog of my own, however I cared for all of types of dogs for family and friends in my home between my trips. During the pandemic, when travel ceased, I decided to give fostering a whirl and adopted my very first foster, Max. He has become my best little bud and we spend lots of quality time together. I was fortunate to be able to retire early in 2022 and have since been fostering and volunteering for One Tail at a Time. I've also added dog-sitting to my agenda.
Reviews
Laura is amazing! She really went above and beyond with our pup while he stayed in her home. She took extra time to make sure he was comfortable, sent really thorough updates every day with lots of photos, and even dropped him off. I highly recommend Laura!
Doña's stay was wonderful. I left her with ease that she would be in great hands. Loved the updates and the extra care Laura took with Doña. I was nervous to leave Doña after her vet's suspicion of IVDD. However, Laura was ready to take notes and accommodated all of Doña's IVDD prevention needs. From meet & greet to first updates, I was at ease knowing Doña was right at home. Glad to have found her and def will be rebooking.
Laura was amazing with our two pups! She sent a great update with lots of photos every day and they both clearly had a wonderful vacation. We’ll definitely be using Laura again!
We had a wonderful experience boarding our dog Leo with Laura! She really cared about getting to know him and his routines. We also really enjoyed her daily updates and pictures of Leo who seemed to be having a great time. I would definitely try to book with her again.

Information Laura W. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know as much as possible about your dog in order to provide the best possible care and in exchange will provide you with regular updates during their stay. I know from experience how difficult it can be to be separated from your dog. Our dog is a member of our family and yours will be as well and provided with lots of love and attention. My dog, Max, is good with other dogs but other than the occasional game of tug, he is not super playful with dogs. So I would ask that your dog have a similar temperament or be able to read his signals and give him space.
A typical day
I enjoy spending times with dogs and am able to provide the activities you desire such as daily walks, reinforcing or teaching new training cues, play time, cuddles, administering medicine, and everything in between. Also, if you would like, happy to have them accompany me on hikes, runs, and/or other excursions outside of the home. I am also experienced with dogs who prefer less hands on time and am willing and able to give space to dogs who need it.

Availability
As a retiree, I have a very flexible schedule. I leave the house 2-4 hours at a time several times throughout the week to volunteer and for other activities. However, I can flex my schedule to meet the needs of your dog. My husband works outside of the home, but is home most days late afternoon through evening to provide play time and back up care.
