Hi! I grew up with a German shepherd called Brita that I trained and took to dog shows. I was always the only kid participant and I loved it. Then she passed, and high school and college came and I became anxious and stressed. But in Jan 2018 the cutest frenchie in the world, named Dante, came into my life to change it forever. I rescued him from abusive acquaintances and kept him, even though I'd never intended to get a dog up to that point. The pure happiness and calm I feel around him help me a lot in my ongoing PhD, and convinced me to sign up for Rover, because I think the bliss dogs bring to me is cumulative, and who doesn't want to be even happier? Being a PhD student in a computational lab, I am pretty flexible since I can always do work from my laptop, from anywhere. Therefore, I basically schedule my whole life so that I can maximize the amount of time spent with my dog, and I pretty much put his needs ahead of mine at all times, no joke. If I have to be somewhere in the evening, I work from home in the morning so that I am never away more than 8 hours a day. And I always run home once during the time I am away each day, to walk my dog. My house rules are: 'If you don't want something destroyed by your dog(s), hide it!' So my entire 2 bedroom apartment is dog proof, and there's nothing even a high energy huge dog could do to destroy something valuable. A day in your dog's life with me would include lots of playtime with Dante (my dog), LOTS of walks with me or my husband, David (both of us are very energetic and like to run around with dogs) and lots of cuddles on the couch and in bed. My dog sleeps with me and so would yours if he/she wants.
