Vet tech looking for more

Pet care experience

As a vet tech and former vet assistant, I am well equipped to care for animals whether it be regular husbandry tasks or medical needs. I grew up with cats and currently have a 4 year old dog so as a fellow pet owner, I understand how much we love our babies and want them to be safe and happy! I am the go-to person for my neighbors and family to call whenever they have pet questions. I also LOVE training dogs so if that was something you wanted help with, I'd love to work on it with them! If requesting training sesson(s), I charge an extra $10. This includes 3-4 short sessions with breaks in between within a 1 hour visit or walk. I have experience with common commands such as; sit, stay, come, down, place, leave it, food manners, mild food aggression, resource guarding, crate training, potty training, etc. And leash manners such as loose leash walking, heeling, impulse control, and more! If you have a specific problem you would like help with, let me know! My visits and walking rates are for 1 hour, anything shorter than an hour will be adjusted.

Laura is so great! My girlfriend was feeling ill while I was away for work and she was struggling to get any rest with our 10 month German Shepherd begging to play. Laura, on short notice, came by for some one hour walks over the weekend and it was a life saver for everyone involved! She helped reinforce training and had great feedback. Can’t recommend her enough!

my name is Brandon & I have a 6-year-old red nose pitbull named Triton he is very well behaved w/ other dogs & people, he listens on or off the leash & is a big baby when it comes to attention & affection definitely has some separation anxiety issues. Laura is awesome w/Triton, she's very knowledgeable, patient, caring, & she is a vet tech as well. Triton loves being around her & hanging out w/her gets excited every time he sees her. SHES AMAZING!!!

Safety, trust & environment

I have a friendly dog who would love to come along on walks or to play with your fur baby, but I understand not all dogs are dog "people" so if you would rather I visit/walk with your pet alone, that is fine. Although I cannot bring other pets in my home, I can provide a large fenced in backyard with covered patio for playtime! I can provide enrichment in the form of training practice (if requested), food puzzles, small agility set with tunnel, weaving poles, and jumps, play, walks, etc. My dog can be a little bit rude upon introductions so if he will be involved with your pet, an initial meet and greet would be best

Information Laura S. would like to know about your pet

Any medical information including health issues, diseases, disabilities and medications they are on, especially if they need to be administered during a visit/walk, any allergies, behavioral problems/quirks, if they are a "caution" in certain situations or just need some extra time getting used to new people, any fears, reactivity to other dogs/people/things. Just as important are things your dog likes! Favorite toys, games, treats, are they motivated more by food or play?

A typical day

I love making up new games to play! Especially games that challenge them mentally and build confidence. I do own a small agility set that includes a tunnel, weaving poles, and jumps. I love food puzzles and make my own snuffle mats. I live a block away from the tonawanda bike path so that is always a great go-to walking area

I currently work full time at an animal hospital, so weekends are best. My only downfall is that where I am living, I cannot have other animals stay with me so any long term or overnight care would need to be done at your home. I prefer walks and visits but will consider overnight sitting on a case by case basis.
