To all my pet sitting clients. There is a respiratory illness going around in dogs right now. Some patients are showing signs weeks after boarding rather than a shorter time. Currently from our doctors research one antibiotic is resolving the issue. But it can progress to coughing up blood, if it gets to that severity morbidity is a high likelihood. So please be cautious of your fur babies. Currently I am requiring if you want me to pet sit your dogs, they cannot recently be at daycare or another boarding facility. They must be updated on bordetella and flu vaccine unless a doctor says they cannot due to health reasons. Please stay away from dog parks, grooming if you can, and away from other high volume areas of dogs. If they have been to any of these I need a two week window before I will pet sit. If there are any signs of coughing I cannot pet sit as it puts any other clients and my own pets at risk. I do not take my own dogs to grooming or dog parks so there should be no exposure in my household unless brought in otherwise. If I hear coughing from a pet while in my care I will be quarantining the pet and informing the owner as well as informing any other pet sits at the time. If coughing is to arise in my house hold I will have to cancel and hold off on any more pet sits for 2 weeks to make sure no one comes down with anything. Please be understanding and respectful of the rules I am trying to put into place to keep your babies and my babies safe.
