Pet care experience
When I was an undergraduate student, I provided pet sitting services on an almost full-time basis. I would do housesitting services for various professors and staff members at the University of Michigan, friends and family members, as well as providing dog-walking or check-ins for pets for these individuals as well. I was often referred by the pet-owners to many others. I truly enjoyed doing this. I own two cats, and love caring for animals.

She is very responsible and trustworthy. Laura has always been wonderful with my pup who is fearful of most. My pup warmed up to Laura immediately and loves spending time with her. Laura P. is an excellent dog walker and sitter. She handled our two dogs every day at noon as my wife and I both worked and could not let them out. She also dog sat at our house while we were gone for a weekend or a week. The dogs were very comfortable with Laura and she was confident with them. I am primarily looking to care for pets in their own homes, as I currently live in an apartment. I will soon be moving to a house with a fenced in backyard, and may consider sitting for pets in my own home once I have moved.

In addition to information such as the pet’s name, breed, and age, I like to know the pet’s comfort level around strangers and other animals. I like to know what helps calm and comfort a pet, what their favorite treats and activities are, and where dogs like to go for walks or playtime. I have cared for many types of breeds, from small dogs such as chihuahuas and Shih Tzus, to large breeds such as shepherds and a Great Dane, and everything in between.
A typical day
I am happy to accommodate a pet’s preferences for walk and park time locations. I want the dog to feel comfortable and disrupt their routine as little as possible while their owner is away.

Availability
I do work full-time in downtown Pittsburgh, from about 9-6, but have my own transportation and can be flexible with my work schedule much of the time. I am generally available most evenings and weekends.
