Your dog's next best friend!

Pet care experience

Welcome to the pack! Obviously I love dogs (and cats, birds, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, reptiles, snakes, etc) and want to help people take care of their pets while at work or on vacation. I take care of almost all species of animal, so just contact me if you have additional animals for pet-sitting. I have farm-sat before as well, so just contact me if you have an entire flock or herd that needs to be looked after while you're gone and we can figure out a deal. My education is a bachelors of science in biology, with an emphasis on veterinary medicine. I have worked at a vet office for many years as a vet tech and I have worked as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator across the country. This means I am familiar with administering medication and animal first aid. I enjoy taking care of "special needs" and elderly animals as well, as I know they require extra attention. About 4 years ago, I adopted a sweet German Shepherd mama dog from a rescue. She has been such an amazing companion and loves all kinds of animals. When your pets stay at my house for day care or overnight boarding, my dog will be home as well, so a meet and greet beforehand is required. My dog loves all sizes of dogs, but sometimes little dogs are intimated by her until they realize she is very gentle and motherly.

Laura is a very responsible and trustworthy pet sitter. She has taken care of our two cats on multiple occasions. We have cameras in the house for when we’re gone on vacation and we could see how well she treated our cats. Cinnamon even came to her for pets and cuddles who is normally a shy cat who likes to hide when strangers come to the house. She was diligent with cleaning the cat litter and our cats’ particular eating habits. I would highly recommend her if you are in need of a pet sitter.

I truly do not enjoy writing a negative post about anyone, but I was very disappointed in Laura. She was booked from noon Saturday until early Sunday afternoon. She stopped by at 11:30 a.m. Saturday but stayed only 7 minutes. I have security that lets us know when anyone comes and goes. She left the dogs alone until 8:05 p.m....almost 9 hours. I had told her that they need to eat dinner at around 5:30. I pulled up my security camera to see them barking like crazy at 6:00, at which time I contacted Laura and she informed me she was moving and things were taking longer than expected. I had to send a friend to my house to let the dogs out and feed them. Laura did spend the night at my house with the dogs so that was good. She left at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning. While I understand things happen, I think a responsible person would have either come back to the house for at least another quick potty break and fed them dinner, or let me know so that I could get a friend or neighbor over there. But she committed to sitting for them and truly let me down. I can unfortunately not recommend her.

Laura was incredible with our fur baby. She did an amazing job handling her, took great care of our house, and even helped us coordinate getting our dog to our wedding day photos. She took all the worry out of leaving Luna (our dog), and let us just enjoy our time away. Thank you for doing such an awesome job. Would definitely rebook :)

Laura is fantastic! When our holiday plans got mixed up and we needed a very last-minute sitter, she was onboard and just amazing. We requested drop-in visits for two dogs and feeding for our flock of chickens and ducks. She went above and beyond, making sure the dogs got plenty of exercise, our friendly duck got a hug on Christmas, and even the cat (who we just left a feeder out for) got plenty of cuddles! I highly recommend booking with Laura for your pet care needs!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a quiet neighborhood with sidewalks perfect for daily walks. I have a fenced backyard with plenty of grass and trees and bushes for your dog to explore. If I am gone running an errand, all the pets will be separated or crated while unsupervised. This is primarily for the dogs' safety (especially if they are nosy and mischievous) and to keep them calm in a new environment.

Information Laura M. would like to know about your pet

I do require all pets that are boarded for the day or overnight at my home to be free of fleas and ticks and fully vaccinated. Please be able to present proof of vaccination at the time of the meet and greet. Just let me know personality quirks, what your dog loves (such as belly rubs, being brushed, tennis balls), and what your dog is scared of, so I can keep him/her happy. If your pet has a specific schedule, know that I am also working another job and I will not be home 100% of the time for your pet. Please discuss these details with me ahead of time if you are very strict about your pet's routine. If your pet gets separation anxiety, I would recommend bringing something that has your scent on it so they can feel comforted (such as a sweatshirt, small blanket, stuffed animal). Bringing your own pet's crate will be beneficial so they have a "safe haven" if they need time away from the group.

A typical day

I love hiking and walking! Your dog(s) and I will take walks where they are familiar, around the neighborhood, or we can go to a park and go hiking. It is up to you and your dog. If he/she loves water, we can find a lake or stream to play in together! Some dogs just like to cuddle and get belly rubs or show off their toys. I will be there to be your dog's companion.

Currently, I am home most of the day. I am excited to dedicate more time to establishing a regular clientele again and building those relationships with you and your pets. My sweet dog is also excited about making friends and would love to have more companionship. If your dog loves long hikes, we can arrange it where your dog can join our 4 hour hikes at Fort Yargo. I understand when I worked long days and never had time to fully exercise my dog, I always felt guilty. So now that I'm dedicating more time to being home, I want to offer your dog the same opportunities for a day hike and companionship all day.
