My background and education is in providing enrichment, skilled handling and modern, force free care methods. Having learned to train and handle animals in a shelter setting, I am comfortable working with special needs pets who may need a little extra time, treats and care to get comfortable. Working with animals of any species sparks so much joy in me that I've been told it is contagious. Whether we are training, on walks, hiking, playing games, or snuggling on the couch, I will love and care for your pets as if they are my own. I am a lead dog volunteer and member of the CCAS Running dog team with experience training trail readiness, puppy basics and improving jumpy/mouthy behaviors. My passion for animals has shaped my adult life and hobbies. In my spare time, I continue to hone my skills, studying multi-species behavior, husbandry and training methods, and I nerd out on taking care of my numerous house plants. I have worked with different breeds and have robust experience managing atypical behavior such as many kinds of reactivity and fear. Your pup will get lots of love, fun games, and play time while you're away. I take a collaborative approach to scheduling pet care and try to work with the pet parents to set up a schedule and routine that works for everyone. Pet safety and welfare are my highest priorities. When signing on a new family, I ask about any behavioral concerns or escape artist tendencies and then set up a management plan if necessary when it comes to being in the home. For walks, I draw from years of handling experience and professional training to ensure that we are safe in the world. My strong preference is to walk dogs using gear recommended by experts in animal care, which includes 2 points of connection for the leash and a back up martingale clipped to the harness. I am also comfortable using muzzles if needed or finding walks that are lower stress and stimulation.
