Hi Everyone! My name is Laura and I would love to hang out with your greyhound. I dream of fostering greyhounds but want to feel out having an additional dog in my home before I make that level of commitment. I lost my hound a few years ago, we currently have a small (25 lbs) mixed breed terrier type of dog named Casey. She is comfortable being around larger dogs. I work a week on / week off schedule so when I accept dogs on my weeks off I am able to be at home with your dog all day. Your dog is welcome to enjoy our couch and all of the soft blankets and pillows. We have space to set up your crate in several areas of the house depending on where your hound would be comfortable. My hound gave up on his crate a few weeks after being home, so if you no longer crate that is fine too. I would enjoy to sending you dumb pictures of your dog sleeping on the couch with their tongue out. Check out my gallery for pictures of my dog in her usual spot and a picture of my Jack (RIP). As a former greyhound owner I understand the importance of making sure leashes are tightly clipped and doors are closed securely. There will be no worry about your sitter not understanding the heightened escape risk that comes with the breed. I do not have a fenced yard so your hound will be leash walked. I am strong enough and heavy enough to contain a dog with a high prey drive on a leash. We live in the upper unit of a duplex we own so 1) your hound will have to understand stairs and 2) you can feel secure knowing there are two sets of doors between the inside of the home and the outside. I will also always dress your dog in appropriate protective clothing for the weather. I am comfortable with different types of food needs including supplements, mix-ins and raw food diets. I have a well stocked first aid kit and a large truck for transport in case of emergencies.
