Dog lover with a flexible schedule
Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs and have volunteered with local dog rescues for the past several years. I have a flexible work schedule and my office is just three blocks from my home, so I can pop in to check on your dog frequently (or, with enough advanced notice ahead of booking, I can telework). I live in a dog-friendly neighborhood with lots of tree-lined streets for walks and big parks for running around. My husband Henry is a fellow dog lover and eager to help out; our shifted work schedules allow us to provide more coverage at home and more time actively attending to your dog. We know we will eventually have a dog of our own, but for now we are excited to host your dog solo, free of distractions!
Reviews
Laura and her husband we fantastic doggie-sitters! Communication with Laura was easy and the perfect amount (not too much or too little.) My dog loved her stay and made herself quite at home at Laura's place. I will definitely be using Laura for future trips and highly recommend her. Thank you!
Masie came home happy and energetic. Laura sent lots of pics. I would definitely have her watch Masie again.

Information Laura K. would like to know about your pet
Before agreeing to host your dog, I would like to confirm that your dog is not frequently or uncontrollably loud. My upstairs neighbors are fellow dog lovers, but my ability to host dogs is contingent upon no neighborly complaints! I would also love to know if your dog is afraid of anything -- city living can be exciting but also unpredictable, and I would love to be ready to protect your dog from whatever they find scary. Henry and I love all dog breeds, but growing up with medium-to-large sized dogs, we have a special place in our hearts for those that remind us of golden retrievers, labradors, or shepherds.
A typical day
I am excited to go on adventures with your dog in the neighborhood! I have a fenced front yard, which is great for lounging and hanging out in good weather. I live close to Lincoln Park, with its large, grassy area, and Marion Park, which is partially fenced. If your dog is super adventurous, we can go on a long walk around the Capitol and the National Mall, or down to Navy Yard to see the water. I also enjoy seeing people, and I hope your dog does too! If you think it would be a good fit, I'd be happy to bring your dog to other dog-friendly areas like restaurant patios and weekend farmers markets.
