I have been a professional groomer for over 15 years and I've been in the pet related industry for almost 20. Not only have I had multiple pets of my own through the years, but I love each and every one of my clients like they are my own! I am Pet cpr/first aid certified, member of Pet Sitters International, and I have enough veterinary knowledge to dispense medications. (including injections) and know when your pet is just missing you or actually sick. I have quirky dogs and cats at home, so I'm ok with taking care of pets that may be "special need" - behavior or health wise. I am in the process of getting my Fear Free certification.

Laura has watched my golden retriever several times in the past few years. She is extremely responsible - I trust her completely. She is kind and loving to my dog, and takes care of him as well as I do! She sends daily pictures of him when I am away and it always looks like he is having so much fun. She texts me if she has any questions. I am so fortunate to have her as a sitter - I never loose any sleep worrying about my dog when I am away.
Laura is the most amazing groomer ever. I have worked with several dog groomers, and my boys love Laura so much, get so excited when it's bathtime, that I realize she is irreplaceable. Laura is a terrific dog caregiver. She has been a dog groomer for years and has even written a book about her business, which is selling well in her trade circles. For the health, comfort and safety of both myself and your pets, i do require the following for your household: -Smoke free household; (i am highly allergic) -Snow removal in winter (plow service or neighbor with snow blower) -at least 1 physical key (not just smart lock/garage codes) -1 visit per day for cat households and 3 visits per day for dogs that need to be let out to use the bathroom.

-hiding places (especially for kitties) -fears and quirks (afraid of vacuum cleaner, thunderstorms, fireworks, etc) -sensitive to certain body parts touched (such as "doesn't like feet being dried with towel after he comes inside") -amount of treats they are allowed -if they are possessive around toys/treats/food -favorite toys/treats -if they've ever bitten anyone
A typical day
I like to use the same routine that you do throughout your day, including commands and rules. I know your pets miss you, so I try to explain to them in whatever way I can that I am taking care of them for now and that you'll be home soon. (even if they don't understand, they can sense the kindness in my voice) In good weather we'll walk around the neighborhood or play fetch in the backyard. For rainy/snowy weather I usually like to bring some food puzzle toys/games for them to get some mental stimulation as well as physical. Please tell me if your dog is reactive/aggressive with other dogs while on walks. Due to liability reasons, I cannot take your dog to off leash dog parks. As for my feline friends, I usually don't see them until the last few days I'm there, if at all. I will call out to them to announce my presence, and I will talk to them as I'm doing daily care tasks (food, water, litter box changing) just so they know they aren't alone. For kitties that need medication I will find them, give them their medicine, and then leave them alone to their own devices.

Availability
I groom full time (from 10am to 2pm Tuesday through Friday) but if we schedule far enough in advance, I can be sure I will tweak my schedule to fit your needs. I live near Syracuse University, so in a snowstorm I can always walk if need be! (which is why I have such a small service area) I will do a meet and greet (free of charge) beforehand so you can show me their routine and give me as many details as possible (bulleted lists are my best friend!) Tell me their favorite hiding places, their favorite spot on the carpet to puke and/or their blanket they can't go to bed without! I also have a dog of my own that can be very nervous around strangers, so I will do my best to get them to warm up on their terms.
