Safety is my number one priority. About booking: If you are a new client please submit your request at least 2 weeks in advance. I do work full-time and scheduling a meet-and-greet is hard for me on short notice. About my house: I own a single-family home with a large fenced yard. Both doors that are used to enter/exit the house lead to the fenced yard, so you don't have to worry about your pup slipping out of my door. The inside of my fence is lined with river rocks, bricks, and landscape edging to make digging out very difficult. I have a quiet, non-smoking household with no children. I have a roommate in my basement and my boyfriend is over often. I take sole responsibility for your pet during their stay regarding feeding, letting out for potty breaks, and including on walks. If there are any times I must leave the house while watching your dog, he/she will be kept separated from my dogs for safety reasons. About my dogs: I have 3 small dogs (13yo Italian Greyhound, 8yo Dachshund, 5yo Chihuahua mix) and plenty of room to watch your pup. They are all well behaved. I have experience with shy and/or deaf dogs, giving medicine, handling potty accidents, etc. I have a good mix of temperaments and personalities in my pack. My 13yo Italian Greyhound Mickey is deaf. He was on medication and a special diet for kidney issues for a while and so feeding time involved medicine administration and mixing wet and dry food to get him to eat. He is very finicky with medication, so I have found creative ways of getting him to take his medication. He loves getting into trash, so my kitchen has a trash drawer and all other trash cans in the house are kept away from the dogs. My 8yo long-haired Dachshund Frank is an integral part of my pack. He is the confidence booster for my other dogs. He is very easygoing, patient, and a great playmate for other pups. My 5yo Chihuahua mix Little Dude is extremely fearful of new people and won’t be able to be at meet-and-greets because of his anxiety and fear. Outside of my full-time job I volunteer with City Dogs and City Kitties Rescue in DC as an Adoption Counselor and I have also fostered and adopted dogs through them. All 3 of my dogs are rescue dogs. I adopted Little Dude after fostering him for 4 months. The rescue was looking for a foster who could take in a dog with severe anxiety and I was up to the challenge. I provided him with his own room, hiding places, and pee pads and gave him time. He was terrified of all people, but slowly warmed up to me over the course of a few months. Watching him become best friends with my dachshund and really start to trust me, I couldn't imagine letting him go to a different home. I have the utmost love and patience for dogs. You won’t be able to meet him but rest assured that if there are any issues with playtime, etc. that he is perfectly content being in his room during your dog’s stay. Again, safety comes first for me. If your dog is a couch potato and wants to be left alone my dogs will respect that. If your dog has energy and loves to play, then Frank and Little Dude will play endlessly! About my schedule: I work from home at least 2 days a week but am otherwise in the office from about 8:30am-5pm. I do not work on the weekends.
