The Next Best Thing To YOU!

Pet care experience

NOTE: The following promo code gives pet owners new to Rover $20 off their first booking. This promo code is only for new Rover members who use my profile link. LINK: https://www.rover.com/sit/lalaij85016 Your Promo Code: LALAIJ85016 ************************* Whether you are at work, vacationing, lead a busy lifestyle, or just need help, I am committed to providing my clients in Suburban Southwest and West Houston, Sugar Land, Stafford, Richmond and surrounding communities with excellent care and a wide range of services tailored to you and your pets needs in the comfort of your home or mine 365 days a year. I am new to Rover, but not new to pet sitting. I have owned and operated Coddled Critters, one of the Houston area's premier pet sitting services for over 25 years. I am a current member in good standing with Pet Sitters International. I will tell you honestly, if you are just looking for the least expensive care you can find, that won't be me. I believe people get what they pay for. With me, you will get someone dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your pets and the best possible service to you. I treat your pets as if they were my own, with special attention and personalized care. I hold myself to the highest standards in professional care, because I feel that you and your pet deserve nothing less. You show your trust in me every time you allow me to care for your pet(s). I appreciate that trust because I have pets too and know that they are always an important part of any family. I have elevated standards of excellence, which I will not compromise. I am in this business for the love of animals. I have a lifetime of experience caring for pets of all kinds. My mom was a vet tech when I was in elementary school and when she took me with her they would put me to work feeding the dogs and cats, scooping litter boxes and walking dogs. It was also around this age I learned how to pill a dog (though I have learned many more tricks since!) When I was in Middle School I learned to give injections and dress wounds. I also had about 6 neighbors dogs I walked and did my first overnight paid petsit. In my early 20's, I went to a professional dog grooming school in San Antonio, at the time, it was one of only 3 schools where the students learned on live animals. If *I* groom your schnauzer or cocker spaniel, s/he WON'T be wearing a tutu! I love animals of ALL kinds. I can administer insulin injections, have experience with geriatric and special needs pets and am Red Cross Pet CPR and First Aid Certified (and I made my husband and son get certified as well). I have experience with babies too and have successfully bottle raised many over the years. I have experience with a large variety of pets dogs, wolfdogs, cats, big birds, little birds, fish, bunnies, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, hamsters, tortoises, bearded dragons, iguanas, goats, I took care of some alpacas (at their home!) once. Odds are high I have taken care of whatever kind of pet(s) you have at some point. If I haven't, I am willing to learn! I also have experience caring for the animals of various breeders. I CAN care for a kennel of dogs, a cattery or large groups of other animals like guinea pigs or rabbits.

LaLainya has taken care of our dos and cats for years when we go on vacation. She is wonderful with our pets and I trust her completely. She has also been known to bring treats and toys for the dogs and will spend time playing with them while she’s here. I highly recommend LaLainya or any animal care.

OMG, I can’t say enough about LaLainya. I love her. More importantly, all of my cats love her! I take very good care of my kids but I think LaLainya takes better care of them sometimes. I’ve been through several sitters, trust is a big thing, these are my babies. I completely trust LaLainya like part of the family. We travel on average about once a month and honestly I don’t know what I would do without her! My situation is probably not like most typical households. I have several cats, most outdoors, some still feral, who all have their quirks and needs. LaLainya is exceptional at fulfilling all of their crazy needs. My biggest request from her while we’re gone is to let me know who she sees at her visits so I can keep track of them all to know if I need to start doing some investigation work finding them. I can happily say even after our last three week trip everyone was accounted for daily. It’s so nice to be so far away from home and KNOW that my kids are in good hands. I can fully enjoy my vacation time now that we have LaLainya in our lives.

I have trusted LaLainya for many years with the care of my fur babies. She is a loving and reliable caregiver to all my babies and loves them like they were her own. I never have to worry about the quality of care they receive while I am away because I know they are getting all the time, love and attention they need.

Safety, trust & environment

I take the responsibility of caring for your pet seriously, not only for you but, more importantly, for the welfare of your pet. I understand that your pet is a member of your family and you are entrusting me with their safekeeping. My goal is to make your furry/feathered/scaly, family member(s) as comfortable and as happy as possible while you are away. I hope that you enjoy having your pet(s) coddled by me. If your experience is satisfactory please feel free to refer me to your friends and neighbors. If you have time, a review is always appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Your comfort is my goal! I Promise to: * provide unconditional love to your pet * provide excellent care to your pets and home * conduct myself with with honesty and integrity * be conscientious, thorough, dependable and helpful * coddle and cuddle and care for your pet while he/she/they are in my care I do not have a "one way" to care for any pet. Each pet's care is customized to it's needs and your instructions. Every pet is different, even pets in the same household. Pets also often act completely different for a caregiver than a parent. What I can say is that I treat all pets I care for as if they were my own. I get attached quickly. I treat them with love and I strive to ensure they have a great time and are excited to see me. Services generally include: *Fresh food and water given daily *Preparation of any specialty foods given at no extra charge *Medications administered and dietary needs met *Playtime and lots of coddling *Companionship *Potty Walks (for those without a yard) and exercise, which may be in or out side at our discretion *Playdate with a big dog or a little dog on request. My dogs love to go play and help work out extra energy. *Litter boxes kept clean *Pet messes cleaned up *Complimentary Fish Care on small, uncomplicated tanks *Limited overnight stays in your home with your pets available (different fees apply) *I can keep your pet in my home (different fees apply) Home Services *Home security checks performed at each visit *Mail, newspapers, packages brought in *Lights turned on/off *Draperies/window coverings opened/closed *TV/radio on/off *Uninterrupted Trash Service (Your trash will be taken out and cans brought back in) *Watering plants (indoors and out) *Minor tasks (for example refilling bird or squirrel feeders, keeping an eye/feeding on your outside stray) Other services, like feeding a whole colony of feral cats in individual bowls, tending to gardens, maintaining koi ponds... may require additional fees but I am here to help so you don't have to stress about what's going on at home. BOARDED DOGS must be house trained and must not be aggressive. I can not board aggressive dogs in my home. (I have cats and an 8 pound dog that THINKS he is bigger than my 95 pound dog.) My dogs are very friendly and love having dogs come stay. They think it's a long playdate. My dogs also will respect the boundaries of dogs that don't want to play. Small dogs and puppies that are not house trained or are trained to potty pads may spend some of their time here confined to an exercise pen or the kitchen area...but I will work on house-training with them. I will not board Pit Bulls, one bad experience ruined it for the rest. I WILL do Drop In visits and Housesitting Visits with them. I do not dislike Pits, I took care of a pair for years and I loved them, they just don't always seem to know their own strength and can too easily hurt a toy sized dog. I have a large, secure back yard where we spend lots of time playing on pretty days. (With chickens in a secure pen that everyone loves spending time barking at, and tortoises that sometimes roam the yard, ignoring the dogs barking in their faces, but the don't never seem to notice they are being ignored!) Boarded cats do not get the run of the house. Most cats are stressed and afraid when they are removed from their familiar environment (some are perfectly relaxed, but rarer). I currently have 3 cat cages set up for boarding. They are approximately 6 feet tall, 3 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Each one has a blanket to cover it or keep neighboring cages out of sight depending on your cat's preference. They also each have a cat tree, shelves, a hammock, wet and dry food bowls, fountain water bowls to encourage them to drink more and of course a litter box. And I have catnip and toys. Each cat gets the amount of attention it wants. Some want lots of love and others want to be left alone. Litter boxes are cleaned 2x daily and water levels are checked 2x daily. Food is free fed OR given per your instructions. The cat cages can hold 2 larger or 3 smaller cats comfortably. If you have more cats than that, you will need to reserve more than 1 cage (unless it's like a Momma with babies.) The cages are taller than I am. They are BIG and set up to maximize comfort, not little dinky cages. They are set up in my front room, away from dogs. If a cat is friendly and comfortable, it may get time out of the cage and loose in the front room. I apologize. I am new to Rover and still figuring it out. I am not sure where to add this note in... I put that I can board up to 10 pets but there is not a way to break it down. 10 pets is assuming my cat cages are full and have 2 or 3 cats in them. I can not have 10 extra dogs in my house at the same time. I prefer to only have 1 family's dogs at a time, unless I know the dogs and have a good idea how they will get along. Maybe 2 families dogs depending on their sizes. Keeping everyone safe is a top priority. I "think" once I have availability for dogs filled I can edit it to say I only have cat openings, but I don't know yet. Feel free to ask me any questions. I am also not opposed to boarding pets other than cats and dogs.

Information LaLainya J. would like to know about your pet

It is important that I know if your dog is food aggressive and if your dog has any food allergies since we always have treats around. I should also know if there are things your dog is fearful of like storms or loud noises. What commands does your dog know? What are his/her favorite games? Favorite toys? I don't know where to put this so I will make a little note here. If you have a female dog in heat and REALLY need help, talk to me. I prefer not to have a female in heat boarded here because I have an intact male (he's only 8 pounds but I bet he could convince a much bigger dog!) I CAN make arrangements to keep them apart but I need to know in advance.

A typical day

I don't feel like there is a "typical" day to describe. Care is based on each individual. I do like to go to the dog park with energetic dogs. The Sugar Land one has a big pond for dogs that like water. If they get icky I bathe them (free of charge, since I am the one that let them get dirty). There's also a small dog park near me in the Meadows. On pretty days we spend a lot of time outdoors in the back yard, on rainy days we go out to potty one at a time. We go for walks around the neighborhood. I have all kinds of dog toys and treats and puzzles...but until I know your dog, I can't describe what our typical day will be. I can say your baby will get lots of love and attention.

My daily and weekly routine revolves around my pets and other people's pets. I have been caring for peoples pets professionally for over 3 decades. My husband is also home a lot (now he only goes in to the office 2x a week) and will sometimes do dog park trips with me. I am home most of the time. I leave to go do petsits at people's houses and to take my dogs to various classes. Kaizen is currently learning Treibball! When I am not home, my adult son or my husband is. On the very rare occasions that we are all away, my mom comes over to sit with visiting pets, so your pet will NEVER be alone MINIMUM VISITS: DOGS with a dog door MUST have at least one (1) visit per day – without a dog door MUST have a minimum of two (2) visits per day – three (3) is recommended. CATS and other pets MUST have at least one (1) visit per day. Visit times are approximate and will vary according to daily schedules. Morning 8:30am-10:30am. Mid-Day 11am-1pm. Afternoon 1:30pm-4pm. Evening 7pm-9:30pm. While I will make an effort to accommodate specific time requests, please understand that due to the nature of pet care, this may not always be possible. I WILL rearrange my schedule to accommodate pets with time sensitive medications (for example, those needing insulin shots). When I have such pets in my care, or homes that I know are going to take longer than normal, I may need to rearrange the order of my visits.
