Dogs have the best personalities :)

Pet care experience

I spent about 10 years training my dogs through 4-H and showing them in the county fair growing up. I also pet sat for numerous family friends and neighbors for years before I began doing it professionally. In the past I have worked for a pet care company taking as many as 4 dogs, all above 60lbs, on 1.5 hour hikes. I have experience walking dogs of various sizes from 2lbs to 130lbs. I have also done overnight stays of anywhere from a night to two weeks taking care of dogs, cats, chickens, geckos, rats, etc. depending on the situation. I am a major dog person as I grew up with dogs my whole life. Beginning with three dogs; an Australian Shepard, Lab-Spitz mix, and Border Collie Golden Retriever mix. Later a Welsh Pembroke Corgi and Australian Cattle dog mix. Now I have my own rescue pup that we adopted in May 2022 who is my favorite goofy handful! 😂 I have found that dogs are one of the greatest joys in this world and I truly enjoy taking care of them. Even if you have to clean up messes, wrangle their energy, or spend hours training them at times.

Kyra walked my dog Lucy multiple days a week and I feel so lucky to have found her. Kyra goes above and beyond and definitely has a gift with animals. She totally clicked with my chihuahua and quickly understood all her quirks. I would highly recommend her; she's by far the best dog walker I've ever had!

Kyra did a great job with our senior dog. A nice walk, pets and cuddles. Just what we asked for!

Safety, trust & environment

I take pet safety very seriously. Each dog is different and I think it is important to start with what the owner has to say about their dog's behavior. Is your pet an escape artist? Does your dog guard food, toys, people, places, etc? Does your pet get along with other animals? Is your dog reactive on leash? Does your dog like to chase cars or squirrels or bikes? Being informed ahead of time allows me to better handle and keep your dog safe on walks. With cats I am very careful about where they are when I go in and out to prevent any darting outside. Some basics things to know in regards to my standard handling for dog walks: • I avoid other dogs and don't allow interaction just in case, even if your dog is friendly. • I bring them close or in a heel type position to pass people and other animals for safety and to prevent interaction. • I do not allow dogs off leash. • I stick to sidewalks and trails. (Obviously there may be streets without sidewalks in which case we stay to the side and find a route with safer walkways.) • We stop before crossing the street. • I re-lock the door while we go for our walk.

Information Kyra N. would like to know about your pet

Does your pet have allergies? Does your pet get along with other pets? Is your dog reactive on leash? Does your pet try to dart out the door or otherwise try to escape? Does your dog guard food, toys, people, places, etc? Does your pet take medication? Does your pet like people? Does your dog pull while walking on leash? Does your pet have a favorite toy or treat? How much do they eat? Are there places in the home they aren't allowed to be? Are there any training words, handling techniques, etc you would like continued? How much energy does your pet have? Does your pet like to be pet? Does your pet have any spots they don't like to be pet?

A typical day

I make sure to give the dog(s) attention for however long they need. Whether it be walks, ball chasing, cuddles, food, water, medicine etc. I am fairly flexible so I tend to go with whichever activity the animal prefers. Different dogs also have different energy levels so what we do will be fully catered to the dog's needs, interests, and usual routine.
