Unfortunately Kylee demonstrated extremely poor judgment in caring for our dog, Mira and in communicating with us while we were out of town. I absolutely do not recommend her to take care of a dog. We ended our five night vacation two nights early because of this. She had appeared to my husband and I as a responsible young woman, and we are both surprised and disappointed. She had walked Mira many times and stayed on a single overnight with her that was uneventful. For our five night trip, we agreed Kylee would work two half shifts at another job on the Sat/Sun, of a five night stay. We are both retired and home a lot so our dog is in a crate when we’re not home. When Kylee was not at our home, Mira was in a crate. The day we left, she reported she’d taken a full shift and wouldn’t be back to our home until after midnight. Since we had made “emergency” arrangements with a neighbor we agreed she could contact him to help that night. When the neighbor called us after he had walked Mira, we asked if he fed her. He said he was not asked to. When we texted Kylee she said she “thought” he would feed her. He says she never mentioned feeding – and since Kylee was at her other job, he agreed to go back to the house and walk and feed Mira. Had our neighbor not called us, Mira would have been without food from 7am to well past midnight, and in a crate WAY too many hours. The neighbor called us again the second night of our trip to say Kylee had called him to take care of Mira the next 3 nights so she could work 3 additional 12 hour shifts. At this point, we began to worry that Kylee was too busy with her other jobs to do the job we hired her for. More concerning was the fact that she did not initiate any communication of her extra job hours to us. With Mira in a crate whenever Kylee was not there, it was important to us that she would be AT OUR HOME, WITH OUR DOG most of the time. Kylee never initiated a text or photo (which I specifically asked for since this was the first time leaving Mira with anyone more than one night.). When I called Kylee and asked “what’s up?” she said “oh everything’s fine – just sitting here chilling with Mira”. She was not going to tell me that she had taken on 3 - 12 hour shifts and would not be there for Mira. We decided to end out trip and come home as our confidence in Kylee was gone. We cannot leave out dog in a crate that many hours – which Kylee was aware of. I asked Kylee to meet with me before I wrote this review, as I wanted to give here a full opportunity to explain her actions. I did not think she understood how irresponsible her behavior was. She did apologize, but went on to say that she took care of Mira the way she would take care of her own dog, and that the texting and photos were not important to her other customers. Her own profile shows she sends texts/photos 60% of the time. She did not send them to us because she was rarely with our dog. Kylee did not seem to agree that her taking other work, not communicating with us, and not being at our home with the dog, was irresponsible, let alone, not what we verbally agreed to. I have to leave this bad review because your dog cannot tell you how long they were alone and unfed or left in a crate. You have to trust who you leave your pet with and unfortunately, we could not trust Kylee to keep her commitment to us or more importantly, to our pet.
