Kyanna was super sweet and seemed genuinely excited to care for our pets over Christmas (a dog and a cat). This was our first time using Rover, and I definitely dropped the ball on some things: for example, I didn't think to leave a sheet of instructions, phone numbers, the Wifi password, etc. We did invite Kyanna over the morning before we left to show her around, but we missed some things (where the cleaning supplies are, how to operate our old heating system, etc.). We usually take Lola (our dog) to the Pets Hotel at Petsmart and have a friend check on our cat, so I absolutely take responsibility for our oversights here. That being said, Kyanna didn't call or text us with any questions or give us any updates on how the pets were doing while we were away. When I finally texted her to check-in, she said everything was going great—but when we got home, it was obvious the dog had been in the bathtub, which made us nervous about how things really went. After I asked, Kyanna was very forthcoming about why the dog had been bathed (an accident the first night spent alone), but it made us wonder what else went wrong that we may never know about. Regular updates would have made us feel more comfortable. I also suspect Lola was fed way too much, because a brand-new 15lb bag of food is almost gone—we were only away for 6 days, and Lola is supposed to eat 1 cup of food per day. We paid the rate for full house-sitting (to avoid Lola spending entire nights alone in her crate), but it sounded like Kyanna was dropping in on our pets as with her other clients. It was over Christmas, though, so we certainly didn't expect her to be here 24/7—and both pets are happy and healthy, which is all that really matters!
