I'm gentle, dogs love me & run/play

Pet care experience

I'm highly educated, have had 5 dogs (and some cats) over the years (2 Yorkshire Terriers, 1 Afghan, 1 Cocker Spaniel and 1 Irish Setter). I know how to approach dogs/let them approach me and I'm very perceptive about how they feel and what they want at any given time. I also know how to play with them with toys, run them in parks (I live across the street from the north end of Central Park and the lake known as the Meer), and get them to settle down for naps. My availability is flexible and I give dogs a lot of creative attention and affection when they want it, including talking to them. Creative attention is thinking of new ways to engage their interest.

Kurt is a great caregiver for dogs -large and small - and cats. He grew up around animals and has taken care of animals his whole life. He is loving, responsible, and intuitive with regard to animals. He is a highly competent handler and can even give medication skillfully. I trust him with my animals implicitly, whom I consider my children!

Information Kurt L. would like to know about your pet

All the dog's dietary needs, feeding times and treat preferences, what the dog loves to do at home and on walks/runs, areas the dog likes to walk around, sniff and mark, where the dog likes to play outside/run and any medicines the dog needs to take, how, and when. I don't have breed preferences, I can handle calm, energetic, and also high-strung dogs, and I prefer dealing with small and medium-size dogs (up to around 40 lbs., with an exception for some larger dogs that are relatively calm).

A typical day

We'll go into dog run areas or parks to run and play with balls and other toys, and, if they live near me, we'll walk around the Central Park Meer to socialize carefully with other dogs and watch the ducks (I know how to get the ducks to come to me but would keep a dog controlled while watching them). Inside we can play with toys, roll around together on the floor, play "fetch", and see what other tricks the dog likes to do or can learn (I know how to do some trick training and positive reinforcement). We can also snuggle and listen to music, "talk" together, and do whatever the dog likes to do at home, with occasional treats and brief potty walks, or longer walks and runs if the dog wants them, several times a day or more, as the dog wants or as the owner feels is best (without making the dog demanding of constant in and out walking , which can happen with some doggies).
