Experienced/Caring In-home Sitter

Pet care experience

Pet owners can feel at ease knowing they have a loving, reliable, professional giving their pets genuine love, care, and attention in their absence. I have both the patience and experience to care for cats & dogs of all ages and sizes, as well as small rodents & some birds. It is very important to me that each pet I care for receives the quality care and attention they require and deserve. My past experiences owning cats/dogs/birds, training dogs, and working in a veterinary clinic have provided me with the ability to determine what each pet needs and the knowledge on how to act in various scenarios. I know it can be hard for many pets to adjust to their family members being gone-especially those with separation anxiety-so I’m conscious of this and do my best to make them all feel as safe & comfortable as possible. I have always been fascinated by both human and animal behavior-ever since I can remember. I have a BA in human psychology, but I have been about learning animal behavior/psychology since I was a child, updating my knowledge to this very day. The past two years, I worked with a dog trainer who has become a close friend of mine. With his help, and his 9 large, beautiful dogs, I was able to witness how dogs behave in a pack setting, allowing me to obtain a truly valuable, hands-on learning experience. Together, we have also successfully worked to correct my own rescue dog’s reactive behaviors on walks and food aggression. Besides my rescue dog, I’ve cared for many dogs with reactive behaviors, & through working with a dog trainer, as well as educating myself, I have learned to read a dog’s body language, which allows for me to understand their needs better when they communicate them. My various past experiences owning and working with reactive dogs have given me the knowledge and awareness of how to best work with and care for them. I previously lived in NYC, where I used the “Wag!” app for dog walking. During this time, I also worked at a veterinary clinic in Times Square for about two years, while also petsitting for many clients that brought their pets in for medical visits. Although I worked as a receptionist, I quickly learned much about animal care, such as: How to detect if there’s something wrong with your pet, how to act in certain scenarios, and preventative measures one can take to keep their pets safe & healthy. Your pets: Boarding isn’t always an option for many pets, so I make sure to provide all of their individual needs in the comfort of their own home. When staying in the clients’ home, I can provide their pets with: feeding/water refill, clean up (related to pet/myself), interactive playtime, walks around the block, to a park, or hiking-& of course-lots, & lots of love. I can also take care of multiple pets at once, so if you have any additional pets in your household, such as birds, small rodents (ie rabbits, hamsters, rats), &/or reptiles (non-venomous), please feel free to let me know and we can make arrangements for their care as well. Additionally, I have a reliable vehicle, and can also take your pets to their vet visits if needed.

Krystie is a fantastic dog walker/sitter. Our nearly 2 yr old golden retriever loves her and is so excited to see her. She is trustworthy and attentive to detail and excellent at communicating. We have found her to be very professional and she takes such good care of our dog. She has been the perfect fit for our lovable, mischievous and energetic dog. She is an absolute pleasure to deal with and we highly recommend her.

Safety, trust & environment

Pet Safety: I am hyper-vigilant of all potential dangers for each pet inside and outside of their homes because their safety is my number one priority. For everyone’s safety, it is very important that pet owners are honest about their pet’s behaviors/triggers/past experiences, as this would allow me to know how to best approach any scenario/situation. Your home: Along with taking great care of your pets, I will also take great care for your home. I treat all my clients’ pets & homes the way I would want my dog & home to be treated-with respect and conscious care. I always bring my own food & make sure to clean up after myself (& of course, after the pets). I bring my own pillow, blanket, & towel, & before I leave, I change the sheets of whichever bed I slept in. I am more than happy to sleep with any dogs/cats that love to cuddle or just want the company-I can honestly say I sleep with the majority of the one’s I care for (& it's one of the best parts of my job!). I can also wash the sheets if there’s a washer/dryer in the home, bring in mail, water plants, take out the trash/recycling, & if there are any other requests relating to your home, I would be happy to discuss them and help out in any way I can. My goal is to give you the utmost peace of mind while you’re gone, & I do not take anyone’s trust for granted.

Information Krystie F. would like to know about your pet

Are there any medical issues and/or are they taking medication? Are there any issues with aggression? Do they get along with other dogs/people/children? Are there any triggers I should avoid? Are they spayed/neutered? Are they fully housebroken? Lastly, is there any additional information you would want me know? (ex: quirks, tendencies, behaviors, preferences, etc)

A typical day

I always take dogs on walks whenever/wherever they normally walk in order to keep their routines in place & avoid any potential stress. Depending on what the dog I care for enjoys, will determine the activities we do. Whether it's playing fetch, tug-o-war, running around in a yard, or just a light stroll (every dog has their preferences)- I will make sure to make activities a fun, and interactive time for them! I have lots of experience “wearing out” high-energy dogs (ex: golden retrievers, labs, huskies, etc) & I’m fully aware of the consequences that can take place when dogs aren’t given the opportunity to release all that energy. I like to keep myself physically active, so don’t be afraid to let me walk your dog(s) if they are large/strong “pullers”! I also love going on nature walks/hikes, which I often do with my own dog and have done with some clients in the past. If that’s something owners would like for me to do this with their dogs, I would certainly be happy to within reasonable weather conditions. No matter what we do, I can once again reassure you that your pet’s happiness & safety are my top priority.

I currently freelance online, so I am very flexible when it comes to booking clients & caring for pets. Because I do most of my work online, your pets can be accompanied & cared for multiple hours in both day & night-which can be especially helpful for pets with separation anxiety. Every pet is unique, so I leave it to the owners to disclose their individual needs.
