Lifelong Animal Lover!

Pet care experience

I've had pets of different types my entire life, and have always had a passion for animals and animal welfare. Putting aside my childhood pets (that I only shared responsibility for) I have taken care of 5 cats and a puppy in the 18 years I've lived in the USA - my first cat here is actually still with us, going strong at 16yrs old!! Over the years of being solely responsible for petcare I've learned to give medication (pills, liquids, inhalers), monitor injuries (spay/neuter, bites, scratches, ear infections), trim nails, give baths (yes to cats too), and learned puppy/kitten and senior care!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a two story home with a fully fenced-in yard (6ft privacy fences). My cats have complete freedom at the moment to roam the house but they do not go outdoors (the oldest occasioanlly walks out into the garden but usually comes right back in). My puppy is being crate trained and because he is still young (and learning not to immediatley chase the cats) he does not have the same freedom and will typically stay with me on leash. I let the cats into the basement for a break sometimes so I can let the puppy have supervised roam of the house, and when it's time to play the puppy has a lot of yard to run around in!!

Information Krystal B. would like to know about your pet

There's only a few pieces of information I'd need to know ahead of time: 1. Are they on any medication or special diet 2. Are they ok being touched/handled (in case I need to pick them up) 3. Are they potty trained (it's ok if they aren't fully, I just like to know what to expect). 4. If they're a puppy/kitten, have they had their shots and are able to be outdoors or with other animals

A typical day

I have a high energy dog myself. Though I'm not the most athletic person in the world, I do spend quite of bit of time daily on enrichment activities. If we aren't out in the yard playing, or out exploring the neighborhood, we're learning new tricks and reinforcing old ones to get a mental workout in!
