Before opening my Rover account in 2018 to watch dogs and cats in the San Francisco area, I routinely watched my brothers dog when I lived in Minnesota. Rain, cold temperatures, or snow don't stop me from taking dogs out for a walk! Over the years, I've enjoyed having the opportunity to keep a dog or cat company while their owner is away. I take good care to adjust my schedule to their needs and find activities they enjoy, whether that's going for a hike, visiting a dog park, or cuddling on the couch. If given appropriate heads up and if the owner is okay with their pup going on car rides, I can even bring them into my office so they aren't left alone during the week. After a few years of dog sitting through Rover, I now have my own pup named Churro, a standard schnauzer who loves to play fetch and go on long hikes. My husband and I brought him home at 8 weeks old in June 2020, and have gone through obedience and off-leash training with Pavlov Dog Training in Denver. Churro plays well with other dogs and loves meeting new people!
