We welcome Seniors and puppies!
Pet care experience
Dog friendly home. No small children. We have 1 female Labrador retriever, she is 7 years old. She comes from a breeder so is use to being with other dogs. She was a breeding female and has had a few litters of puppies so loves to be around them. Our home is not on a busy street and we are very careful that your dog will not be able to bolt out of our house and will be safe. I am a certified veterinarian assistant, I have worked in veterinarian hospitals and the SFSPCA. I currently work part time at home as a freelance graphic designer. I am especially good with elderly dogs. I have taken care of 2 senior dogs this past year. Both have special needs and also need a lot of patience and attention. But I really enjoy taking care of them. My dogs give them respect and don't bother them when they are here. We have also taken care of pit bulls and other dogs that can be a bit territorial so I have to meet them ahead of time. I do love the pit bull breed and think it has a bad reputation. I have met so many at the SPCA and know they can be loving, sweet dogs. I do have other references that are not on Rover, and can give you their contact information. I have taken care of many dogs, here in San Francisco and also in San Jose where we lived 10 years ago. Please feel free to contact me. I would love to meet you and your dog. Why I love dog sitting I have always loved dogs. My parents had dogs when I was born so I grew up with them. People tell me I am an animal person, they love me and I love them. I feel animals, especially dogs are gifts and should be respected and taken care of as family. Meet my pets I have room to take care of small mammals such as hamsters, rats, mice, ferrets, etc. Also, reptiles and aquariums that are not over 20 gallons. I cannot take cats, my dogs are not use to them. About my yard We do have a backyard that is completely fenced in. It's about 800 sq.ft. My dogs only like to go out there to relieve themselves and will only stay out there if I sit with them. Being labs they are companion dogs so they follow me around wherever I go. So your dog will not be left alone out there unless he/she is enjoying it. I can watch what they are doing from the window at all times. My experience administering medication Yes, I do. But I usually like the owner to show me how they do it so I can do it the same way the dog is use to.
Reviews
Kris, Dan, and Angel (the lab) were fantastic! We appreciated their flexibility in dropoff timing and our pup clearly had a wonderful time in their backyard. Our dog came home tired and happy. Thank you!
Kris and her family took care of our 2 year old dog for 2 months and we are forever grateful for the love and care they gave to our energetic pup. Kris was a pleasure to communicate with, shared frequent updates, and really made us feel at ease. Our dog loved her home, her friendly family and their 2 labs; in fact, we're quite sure our dog was very sad to leave when we picked her up! Thank you again Kris for everything you did for us and our sweet Ava!

Your dog will be as spoiled as my dog is. She gets along with all dogs. I let them up on the sofa and bed if that makes them feel more comfortable. Whatever you say works best for them. I want them to feel at home.

Information Kristin M. would like to know about your pet
I have to make sure the dog gets along with my dogs. Most dogs do. My dogs are excited when they first meet another dog but calm down after a few minutes and are very good at giving their guest space. My dogs have had from puppies to senior dogs stay with us and have never had a problem. I know a lot about different breeds having worked at veterinarian hospitals and the SPCA. We have had a pit bull stay here and did not have a problem. But that is why I insist on meeting the dog before they come to stay, to make sure there will not be a problem. I can't take a new dog without a prior meeting. I am pretty good and reading whether they will fit in or not. I know other breeds have higher energy levels and others need to be left alone. Some seniors don't like to be touched because of aches and pains but do need special care.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks I can walk your dog alone in my neighborhood or we can go to the dog parks. We live very close to McLaren park which can be off leash or on leash whatever your dog is trained for. There is also another park close by that is a fenced, grassy dog park. Your dog's sleeping arrangement In the living room with my dogs unless he/she is upset and wants to sleep in my room. Most dogs that stay with us like to sleep on their own bed or crate with the other dogs but I have had dogs sleep in my room with me and my husband if they are lonely. Time I'll spend with your dog I am home most of the day, I work part time as a freelance designer so pretty much 24/7. If I go out it's usually for an hour, but I don't like to leave them home alone too long, so if I have to be gone for longer periods of time I will wait until another family member is home.
