I have always had a pet in my life since I was 6 years old. Animals are the loves of my life and I enjoy spending time with them and learning as much as I can about them. I have had cats in my family which I helped to raise (4 cats total, 3 of which are currently living with my parents and 1 who passed due to cancer). All of my cats have been rescues adopted from non profits. In middle and high school I volunteered with an organization called Dumpster Cats and assisted with the care of rescued feral cats and kittens and helped them to find forever homes on special adoption days at pet stores. I currently have a rescued shepherd mix puppy named Ember who is my whole heart. She will turn 2 years old in January. I've been her handler working with her in dog training classes since she was 4 months old. She has her AKC Canine Good Citizen certification and has earned an Intermediate Trick Dog title through the AKC as well. She has been trained through purely positive reinforcement using clicker training. Currently she and I are learning Novice Rally Obedience which is a dog sport combining old fashioned obedience and fun agility. In addition to caring for my own dog and cats, I work part time as a veterinary assistant. I assist the vets and techs with appointments which has given me professional experience handling, safely restraining, administering medications (oral and injectable), performing nail trims, administering vaccines, assisting with x-rays, assisting with minor surgical procedures, and much more. Through my work I have experienced many sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments of cats and dogs. I am so excited to meet your furry best friend and give him or her the very best care.
