Pet care experience
I'm Kristin, and my family and I love dogs! We treat each Rover dog as if they were our own and snuggle and play with them as much as they'd like. To us, dogs are part of the family--they are allowed on the couch and can sleep in our bed. We have a large, fenced-in back yard for them to get some fresh air, playtime off-leash, and frequent potty breaks. I work from home, so I'm around the house most of the time. I love all dogs, but I have a special fondness for itty bitty dogs. I only take in small dogs that are under about 15 pounds, or a little more if it's a stocky breed like a Pug or French bulldog. We started dog-sitting on Rover in 2015 after our second of two rescued Shih-Tzus passed away (a year apart)--we weren't ready to get our own dogs again, but we couldn't live without dogs in the house! We also foster dogs for Secondhand Hounds, a Twin Cities dog rescue, and have had over 70 foster dogs so far. All of our foster dogs are under 15 pounds. In 2020 we adopted our long-term foster dog, Redd. He's a sweet chihuahua mix that gets along with everyone. We are huge supporters of positive reinforcement to shape dog behavior and can handle many common behavioral issues, from separation anxiety to not being 100% housebroken. We are very patient and understanding. Our two Shih-Tzus were both mostly blind and deaf at the end, so we are also quite comfortable with senior or special-needs dog care and giving medication. I have three kids, ages 13, 15, and 17, that LOVE to play with and snuggle dogs. They are extremely respectful, kind, and gentle, and understand that some dogs prefer to be left alone. Between Rover and fostering we've had over 250 different dogs stay with us so far, and I've loved getting to know every one of them. I'd love to meet yours! :)

My little pup’s favorite sitter 🥰
Kristin provided outstanding care for our diabetic dog while we were away on vacation. She knows dogs! And with the diabetes, she kept us informed of Lupe's levels and followed the injection schedule perfectly. It was clear from the startt that Lupe was happy and comfortable in every way. What a great experience. We could not be more pleased. And grateful too.
My elderly dog needed emergency vet care while he was staying with Kris (he has had occasional seizures and this one wasn't stopping). She immediately brought him to our family vet and then called me. Unfortunately we had to make the decision for him to be humanely euthanized from afar based on the vet's recommendation. Kris was so kind, and even thought to take home my dog's collar so I could pick it up along with his other belongings. I cannot say thank you enough to Kris for going above and beyond in this situation. She did everything we could have hoped for in our dog's time of need and afterward.
Kristin took great care of Jasper and provided plenty of updates and pictures during his stay with her. I would highly recommend and will be using her services again in the future!

I love all dogs, but I have a special fondness for itty bitty dogs, especially the lazy ones! I only take in small dogs that are under about 15 pounds, with an exception for stocky dogs like Pugs or French bulldogs that might weigh a little more.
A typical day
We have a bin full of toys and chews that all dogs have access to, and lots of people to play fetch and games with. All dogs are allowed on the couch and have off-leash access to our large, fully fenced yard many times per day.
