Trustworthy & Insured Vet Tech

Pet care experience

***I will be unavailable for services and on medical leave in March, April, and possibly May. My availability and profile will be updated once I'm able to return. Thanks for your understanding.*** Hi, I'm Kristen! I'm a former veterinary technician, an Animal Science graduate from UC Davis, and a lifelong pet owner. Currently, I'm lucky to share my home with my goofy American pitbull terrier mix and my loud, teenage longhaired tabby cat. My life has always revolved around animals and providing them the excellent care they need to live happy, healthy lives. I really enjoy being able to give back and help people and their pets out with the skills that I possess. Working at an animal hospital and at a boarding facility has given me incredible insight into pet care and behavior, what makes our pets tick, and how we can give them the best lives possible. I have experience with a wide variety of dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I'm knowledgeable about the health problems that our pets face and my time as a vet tech made me familiar with administering many medications. I have experience performing veterinary CPR/first aid and have connections with local veterinary hospitals. I'm also privately insured and my business is licensed/registered with the city/county.

As someone who's worked in Animal Care, it can be so stressful finding someone to take care of 5 cats (some with special needs, food, and meds) when we go out of town, knowing what all is involved in their care and routine. We are grateful to have found Kristen! She was very professional and helpful from start to finish. This was our first time booking someone through Rover and she made it an easy experience all the way through. Kristen did drop-in visits 2x/day for our 5 cats for 4 days. It's not the easiest routine as they're on meal feeding and 1 of the kitties is on meds 2x/day and they each have their own particularities. Of course a day before our trip, another one of them started having some new symptoms that also needed monitoring/meds while we were gone. Kristen got this update just a day before we left, but it was no problem for her, and we were comfortable knowing we had someone knowledgeable to tag in. We got pictures and detailed check-in notes from Kristen each visit, and even our shier kitties (who usually have stranger danger) felt right at home with her and warmed up right away. 10/10 recommend Kristen!

Kristen is always so considerate of our pets and home. She takes time to love on each of our cats and keeps the home consistent while we're gone, which is so helpful when your cats are sensitive to change. She's been our sitter for years and we're so thankful for her!

Rebooked with Kristen because of the extra care and attention she gives our dog and old cat. She sends us updates throughout her stay

Kristen was great! This was my first time using a sitter service and she was very helpful in answering questions I had. Got lots of cute pictures of my kitties, even the shy one! 100% recommend!

Safety, trust & environment

SAFETY & TRUST: I know how difficult it is to find a petsitter you know and trust in your home with your pets. It took me many years to find someone I could truly rely on. I want to be that person for you. I have been petsitting for almost two decades now and, as stated above, have worked at an emergency animal hospital where it was critical that pet owners could trust me to do my job and care for their sick and injured pets. I take pride in the work I do and take petsitting seriously even if it isn't my full-time job. I am transparent with owners as to how I operate my business as well my schedule, experience, and comfort level when it comes to outlined care. I welcome phone or video calls prior to booking any services to discuss each of your pet's care and to become more familiar with one another. Meet and greets are also great ways to discuss the specifics of care for your pets and home. I want to try to make your time away from your pet as carefree and seamless as possible. Not only that, but I want your pet to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible while I care for them in your home. Home Access -- In order to provide in-home services, I will require home access during the scheduled days and times you are away. Access should be determined at the time of the meet and greet or prior to the first day of service. If an additional visit is required to pick up or return a key outside of the meet and greet or scheduled service time, a $10 fee will be applied to your invoice for each round-trip made. Regardless of what kind of access you provide me to your home, whether it's a key or code, I keep that information protected and private. No one else will access your home other than myself unless otherwise discussed.

Information Kristen C. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences. Puppies (up to 2 years old) are accepted on a case-by-case basis, but generally do not fit within my current work schedule. Also, I absolutely LOVE cats and would be more than happy to care for yours while you're away. Ideally, when I'm with your pets, I like to make sure I'm doing everything I can to keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable by emulating their normal routine to the best of my ability. Depending on my reason for visiting your home, it may be important to know about food (what kind, how much, how often), any medications your pets are taking and when they need to be given, if they need exercise and what kind, and any behavioral habits or issues they may have (aggression, fear, submission, anxiety, etc.).

A typical day

Walks around the neighborhood, playtime in the backyard, or even downtime cuddling on the couch. Whatever your pet's activity and comfort level, I want to make his/her time away from you as fun and stress-free as possible!

SCHEDULE: Housesitting -- I work full-time during the week (Monday through Friday), which requires me to be away from home up to 10 hours during the day. Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to drop-in during lunch. However, mornings, evenings, and weekends are dedicated to one-on-one time at your home with your pet(s)! Please keep in mind that I am unable to provide constant care while housesitting due to my job and other clients I care for. Drop-Ins -- During the week I'm available ~6:30-7:30am and ~5:30-8:00pm. On weekends, visits can be arranged with start times between 7am-8:30pm. Unless I already have plans, I'm available mornings, afternoons, and evenings on the weekend. Booking Services -- Because of my full-time job, I am unable to book services more than two months in advance. If looking for services over two months away, I can pencil you in for the dates you need and will check in with you around the two month mark to confirm. **Keep in mind that last minute requests (within 72 hours of booking) may not be able to be accommodated.** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Service Area -- My service area is limited to an approximate 3.5 mile/15 minute area around my home. Unfortunately, Rover doesn't allow you to establish specific boundaries outside of a circle, so I may not be able to service all neighborhoods listed. Cat Care -- Rates may vary based on the number of cats in your home, the type of care required (specifically overnight vs. visits), and whether there are also dogs in your home at the time of service.
