Not Reliable Bottom line: Korrey walked out on the job after 36 hours, leaving us stranded without a pet sitter. Here is the backstory. We booked Korrey to house sit and watch our pets (a dog and 3 cats) from Monday thru Thursday. He came over to our house the Friday before the booking was to start to review the procedures, at which time he said he had a death in the family a week or so ago. I asked if he would still be able to house sit, he said yes. He arrived on Monday at 9am, as scheduled. Later in the day he "asked" if he could go home and spend the night at his own house to support his mom because of the death. I did not like this idea because our house and pets would be left unattended overnight, but the implication was that he would quit the job if I didn't say yes. So I said it was OK, provided he came back early the next morning to let the dog out and feed the pets. He did. But I was anxious and, at 5am, while I was waiting for him to return, I reviewed the driveway and doorbell camera footage from the previous day. It turns out that between 9am Mon and 5:45am Tues, he only spent 2.5 hours in our house. This is not what I would consider house sitting and not what we had agreed to. So, I called him and talked to him about my expectations for watching our house and pets, but also trying to balance his need to be at home to support his mother during this emotional time. We came to a compromise. However, at noon that same day (Tuesday), he sent a text saying he was having an asthma attack and would not be able to continue the job because of his breathing issues. He told us he was sorry, but that we would be able to get our money back. Of course, the money was not the issue -- the issue was that we had four living creatures locked in our house with no one to care for them and no way for us to get back to Virginia for at *least* 12-18 hours -- even if we dropped everything and managed to get the next available flight (I was in Canada and my husband was in Florida). And of course, no way to get a new Rover sitter when we are already in the middle of our trip. (I did manage to get a friend of my son's to come stay, but that was after several panicked phone calls.) If you look back in the reviews, Korrey also cancelled a previous job last minute because of another death in the family. While I do not doubt the validity of his excuses, it still leaves the pet parent stuck in a last-minute/emergency situation. I think Korrey is a very sweet person, but he cannot be relied on to fulfil his obligations. I do not recommend anyone entrust their house or pets with him if you plan to leave the local area. I certainly will never book him again.
