Pet care experience
Are you not only looking for someone who loves dogs, but also someone who has extensive experience caring for and studying dogs? Well then, I am at your service! I love all animals and especially dogs and I worked at pet hotels and vet clinics for 7 years. I was trained on how to administer oral medication and insulin injections, on how to handle social interactions between dogs and general knowledge about dog behavior and body language. I also have had experience with just about all household pets (small mammals, birds, reptiles) as well as sheep and goats. I have experience taking care of up to 7 dogs at once so I am comfortable with groups of dogs as well. I finished a 2 month internship at the Canine Cognition Center at Yale in July, so I am chock full of scientific research about dog cognition. I work as a part-time science educator at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, so I frequently am away for 4-8 hours at a time usually in the morning or evening. I currently cannot take dogs into my home but I would love to take care of your dog in the comfort of their own home. Korinn has been coming into our home and watching our pups for nearly a year and a half. We are beyond happy to have her. She is responsive, responsible and accommodating to our travel schedules. Our adopted Aussie Tuck was a wild man when we became his fur-ever home after six attempts with other families. We are so grateful we had her when he came to us because there was no way he would have done well in boarding. She has been extremely patient as we have worked on his behavior. He now attends day care without issues and does well if we absolutely have to board him, but Korinn will always be our first choice. I cannot even express how nice it is to go on a trip and not worry about Tuck, Oscar and our home with Korinn here. She loves our dogs as much as we do!

Korinn made my quick trip incredibly stress-free! Lincoln is still a puppy so I was nervous to leave him, but she sent me regular picture and text updates and he was in a great mood when I got home. Highly recommend Korinn as a sitter!

Because I worked at a pet hotel for 6 years, I have come to appreciate all shapes and sizes of dogs. I love taking dogs walks, because exercise is important for people and dogs alike! I set my pace to the dogs, so with senior dogs I will meander down the street ,and I can do a light jog with more energetic dogs. I also believe in taking time to smell the roses, and the fire hydrants, and the sidwalks, and that one particular bush. But seriously, I feel that letting dogs stop and use their noses is a fun and easy way to let them get enrichment on their walks. I am very comfortable giving oral medications and insulin injections for any dog that needs it. I have experience using potty pads and doggy diapers, and if your dog is ever crated I will always check their bedding when letting them out.
A typical day
When I stay in your home, I will always ask about the best places to walk, and if you'd like I would love to go on a pre-stay dog walk with you to get a sense of where your dog likes to go. When we're not walking or playing, I love to simply be with your pet to let them know that there is someone there for them. Whether cuddling on the couch watching netflix together, or throwing the toy for them while I do homework, I will always try and include the dog in my activities.
